Awful, predictable and unlikable characters! I was temporarily encouraged by the appearance of Simon Baker but even his good looks and charm couldn't save this train wreck! Neither leads had appealing characteristics which made it difficult for me to engage with them. Rafe Spall was thoroughly unlike able as was Stephen Merchant with his usual brand of "comedy".

The predictability of the story and the unlikely circumstances presented was annoying. Awful British comedy - if you can call it that without falling into claims of false advertising.

1/10

I Give It a Year

Went to see this film on Monday night in Aberdeen and absolutely loved it! Laugh out loud comedy with some great actors. I can see why it wouldn't really appeal to younger viewers but if you are married or have been in long time relationships, its a must.

I Give It a Year

#44 Post by j_b » Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:33 pm

I watched the movie on Monday. I had see the trailer previously and expected a typical rom-com. It wouldn't be my first choice and I'd probably wait to see it on a dvd if it wasn't for the showfilmfirst ticket. How wrong was I! I Give It a Year is so offensive and so, so funny! The writing is brilliant and the Stephen Merchant character is unbelievable. My jaw dropped and I couldn't stop laughing, please treat yourself and go and see it.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting to. I was expecting it to be quite fluffy and gooey, but it's actually a bit subversive and dark. It's not a good film, but it's far better than I thought it would be.

I'd never even heard of this film before joining here.

I guess that's what happens when your life is dominated by a small child

Give it a year and you'll have heard about almost every film through FMUK.
