I saw this at Leeds last night, and it was pretty busy, but not completely full. I was a little disappointed with the film, because my expectations were just too high.

I thought Johnny Depp was good , and I did not like Christian Bale (but there again, we were not meant to like this character), but Marion Cotillard was amazing (as the role did not really have that much going for it). But....I did not realise that Edgar J Hoover was played by Billy Crudup.

I loved the period setting, the outfits, the movie scenes, the cars, etc. I agree with the others who felt that there was something 'missing' here - and an awful lot of gunshots! I've just checked out his story on wikipedia, and the film seems to have kept some bits (e.g. his final hours), but rather over-simplified his life, and certainly, he appears to be more 'evil' than the character played by Johnnie Depp. And... Billie does not seem to exist.

I'd still give it 8/10, despite some reservations. Thanks to largemarge for tickets!

I also went to see this at Gateshead last night. Apart from a rude person queue jumping at the beginning then taking their shoe off to reveal a horrid smell, I found this film to be okay and as most review not as good as I had expected especially from a Johnny Depp Movie. I too found the story a bit all over the place and come parts only clicked into place afterwards during a discussion about it with my boyfriend... eg the wooden gun part which I totally missed. Alot of the characters appeared to look the same.. great seeing Stephen Dorff... he has not aged one bit. Thought this film was far too long and dont think I would be able watch it again to even attempt to watch the bits which passed me by.... 6/10 :O(

I wont be surprised if some of them are members here and we will see them even more in the future screening!!! All we can do is to learn how to endure watching film with many ppl talking

I hate it when people talk. Why should we have to endure it for? People should learn to respect others watching a film.... Sometimes my friends talk in cinemas but I always wack them (literally) on the head and get them to shut up which they then do.

The ones at Greenwich kept giggling and laughing and the times they were laughing, there was nothing funny going on!!!

I also saw this at Gateshead last night....and took my shoes off! Was starting to get worried thinking I had smelly feet, but then re-read your post properly and realised that i didnt queue jump cause was one of the first one's there! lol xxx

also found this film as bit too long, had to concentrate really hard at the end not to figit cause my bottom had gone numb!

We have to endure because there is no alternative.

We can generalise them into 2 categories.
1. Know they are wrong and shut up when you tell them
2. Do not know how to respect others! They would think no one tell me to shut up even my teacher, mom, POLICE!!!

I think most of them would be type 2. When you ask them to be quiet, they would make even more noise and utlimately everyone suffer more!!

I too was at Greenwich Odeon and got there about 6.20 due to the bus journey from the station to the cinema. Bouncers told us to turn out phones before we went in and the actually made us turn our phone off before we went in. Got 2 seats about half way down on the end of a row. Cinema got about 85% full as there was a handful of single seats about. Film started about just gone 6.30 when a group of youths came in making some what of a noise looking for seats. Now i have nothing agains youths myself, heck i was one only a few years ago, but there is way to come into a cinema when the film has already started and the way they came in is not the way you do it.

Anyway on to the film, was about what i expected. Started well with action ect. but then towards to the middle and end of the movie it did get a bit of the same as you would like to know abit more about JD and why he was doing what he was doing. Other then that the film was decent and i loved the action scenes. Infact any guy that likes actions will like the actions scenes. 7.5/10

Might have been and for which screening was this? Next time this happens im going to have to have a word with the manager as this is ruining the cinema experience.

Saw this last night at Wester Hailes, Edinburgh but very disappointing. Cinema was full but several people came in late which is disturbing when they talk to each other and point out the free seats. Security guy checked for phones and watched with the red eye camera several times during the film.
My friend is a Johnny Depp fan and we were both really looking forward to this but I found it hard to distinguish which were the "goodies" and which were the "baddies" in some of the shootouts as they all looked the same.
A young couple in our row walked out at the woodland scene and as she squeezed past me she said that she had had enough. Coming out people were saying that it was not as good as they expected. I agree it was too long and although we enjoyed it I would not go to see it again or rent it on DVD.

only 6 out 10 for us but thanks again AYBG for the tickets.
