Leap Year

#1 Post by a_person » Sun Dec 20, 2009 9:22 pm

A woman (Adams) who has an elaborate scheme to propose to her boyfriend on Leap Day, an Irish tradition which occurs every time the date February 29 rolls around, faces a major setback when bad weather threatens to derail her planned trip to Dublin. With the help of an innkeeper, however, her cross-country odyssey just might result in her getting engaged.

I normally really don't like rom coms but the trailer to this one looks pretty good. I think it may be a possible SFF screening. It looks quite good and funny. Lol.

Her father is a murderer (a very sick one at that!!) in this seasons Dexter!!!!

Leap Year

#3 Post by andrews » Sun Dec 27, 2009 11:46 am

When their four-year anniversary passes without a marriage proposal, Anna (Amy Adams) decides to take matters into her own hands. Investing in an Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on February 29th, Anna decides to follow her boyfriend Jeremy (Adam Scott) to Dublin and get down on one knee herself. But airplanes, weather and fate leave Anna stranded on the other side of Ireland, and she must enlist the help of handsome and surly Declan (Matthew Goode) to get her across the country. As Anna and Declan bicker across the Emerald Isle, they discover that the road to love can take you to very unexpected places.

Genre: Comedy, Romance
Director: Anand Tucker
Cast: Amy Adams, Matthew Goode, Adam Scott, John Lithgow
Release date in Uk: 26th February, 2010

Trailer:

This film looks like a gentle, middle-of-the-road, fluffy rom-com. It will appeal to many of us who enjoy this genre.

I saw a trailer for this the other day before Breakfast at Tiffany's, it looks like your average not-too-demanding rom-com, but I like Amy Adams so if a free screening comes along, I will be there.

When one of the lead actors slams his own film it's probably not a good sign ;)

Funny to see them show this film and A Single Man screening around the same time (Matthew Goode's in both)

Matthew Goode has been slagging this off something rotten on everything he's been on! he reigned it in a bit on T4 on Sunday but all the same....

Empire and Total Film both give it 2 stars. I suspect it's a typical rom-com and fluffy. You either love em or hate em it seems!

I might give Vue my £2.50 to see it on Cheap day Tuesday!

Time Out gave it only 1 star! But that doesn't mean that people who like this sort of thing won't enjoy it and besides, how many of the target audience read reviews at all? Not being snobby; just thinking of friends and colleagues who go to the cinema and seem to base their choice entirely on ads and trailers.
