Have any good free screening stories?

Earlier today I had a call from a very nice researcher for a show called Something for Nothing, which is going to be on Channel 4. In it, they're approaching various different types of freebie including, yes, free film screenings.

So we chatted about FMUK and free screenings in general... was fun.

And one thing that came up was that they might want to interview someone who goes to lots and lots of screenings. Naturally I thought of the 100 in a year club!

So if there's anyone interested, particularly one of you mad 100-aiming lot, let me know and I can pass on your contact details

While we're at it, I think it would be fun regardless to share our best free screening stories :)

One of my fave screening moments was when I had 4 tickets a for kung fu panda 2 and literally 10 minutes before we were going in, the two friends who hadn't arrived yet, text to say they weren't coming, naturally not wanting the tickets to go to waste, I saw a pair of teenage girls looking at film times and seeing what started the soonest so they didn't have to go home yet.
I grabbed them, said come with me, explained the tickets and they were shocked and continued to get their money out to p*y for them!
They seemed completely taken aback when I said no they're free!
Loved seeing their reaction more than anything, never got a thank you off them though

Selfish of me but I'm thinking that if these free screenings receive that much publicity suddenly, either we'll never be able to get tix in future or the promoters will give up running them!

I agree totally, its much harder to get tickets now than it was a year or so ago as more people are aware of these and more chance of not getting in due to it being oversubscribed. I am on another site where I get a lot of bargains from and its well know that once its in the MSE weekly email any offer of glitch usually disappears pretty quick due to the amount of people who get the email.
