Latecomers to screenings and other cinema nuisances

Security wouldn't be running up and down the aisles if people didn't check their phones.
If people are so desperate to see the time, wait until a bright part of the film and look at your watch.
However, did we cope before we had to check our mobile phones for every little thing!

I too have seen over zealous security but the mobile phone addicts are far worse.

A few years ago i went to the cinema (can't remember the movie) and during the movie someone got out their Laptop and proceeded to type a few dozen paragraphs into Word. And no one bothered to say anything to him. THAT glare was like looking into the sun. So much so that i think it immunized me from peoples phones being on during a movie

lol that reminds me of the time I took my laptop out during the 'Pa-pa-papapapa-paaa-PA!' pre-trailer scenes (grr most annoyingly pointless trailer ever) once to check an email before the movie trailers started. Some cinema crew came in and checked to see if I was recording the movie (that obviously was a long way off starting).

I have never taken my laptop out again during trailers!

Having to sit through the entirity of The Croods, with 90% of the child audience wearing flipping flashing trainers....

We had some kids today with flashing trainers! green lights
Very annoying!!! Also perfect seat for the kid, and worst for the rest of the audience ( right in the middle! we had screen with seating divided in the middle, so middle seat relatively in front - that's just in the way of about 80% or more of the whole audience trying to watch the movie!)

Yesterday (when seeing 'Phone Swap) I experienced the worst ever instance of someone talking during a film. Fortunately it didn't spoil my enjoyment as there seemed no chance of shutting the woman up, but she talked quite loudly, more or less throughout the film - and that was after she and her male companion had entered the auditorium late, the film having started, and with both choosing to squeeze into seats in the middle of a row.

Soon after that, the woman started speaking animatedly, as if she were talking to someone on her mobile, and at first I thought that this was what she was doing. Other people were looking around angrily and eventually even leaning forward or sideways or getting up to see where the noise was coming from. Unfortunately there was no member of cinema staff present and none came in at any point during the screening.

After some while, the man with the woman gave her an ineffectual nudge, but she merely seemed startled rather than realising what was wrong. I think in the end we must all have concluded that she had some sort of health issue and couldn't help herself, but why on earth go to the cinema (etc) in that case? I'd be surprised if the reaction was always as resigned as it was on that occasion.

I had this during Cloud Atlas the other night. It was 3 youngish characters of a foreign persuasion and they first yapped during the trailers and ads (which I can live with - excepting the fact that trailers for a dyed-in-the-wool previewist are a novlty!) but this continued throughout the movie. A shoot-em up action movie would have not been a problem, but you really do need to concentrate on Cloud Atlas. I did use a couple of Beate Death Stares which worked temporarily, but required a "Will you please stop talking!" before a "will you shut-the-f**k-up!" finally hit home. Strangely no-one else seemed that bothered by it. Oh - and did I forget the ubiquitous seat back kicking that invariably goes along with this sort of behaviour? I was fizzing to say the least. Next time I shall take my SKY remote control to mute them. Failing that my DVD remote control to Eject them!
