i feel a bit out of date commenting on this now but i'm making the most of the BAFTA screenings and just have to say WOW. Best feeling i've had after a film for ages and thoroughly enjoyed and was engrossed by every character from the humourous father to the ditzy blond to Jenny herself. My fave movie of the year so far (shame it was from last year lol)

Saw this last night with the BAFTA screenings, a pleasant film, but nothing too interesting, and did not get much out of the storyline.
Alfred Molina (Jenny's Dad) was by far my favourite character, and had the best lines. In general, the acting from everyone was good, but the film just lacked something. The ending seemed rushed, and was a bit disappointing. 6/10.

After reading the Guardian excerpt of the memoir I was pleased to finally get the opportunity to see this. The film was enjoyable but not as great as I thought it would be. I thought all the actors played their parts really well. Peter Sarsgaard plays creepy very well (its the eyes - there is something unfortunately shifty about them and the sly smile which helps him portray duplicitous characters so believably). 7.5/10

I thought it was well acted, but thought that there were gaps in the story. Found it difficult to believe her parents allowed her to go out with him the first time to the concert. Her dad played the protective father later on, but not then. I was confused. I liked the style of her costume and thought she looked like Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I gave it a 6/10

I thought it was a lovely coming of age film, both my friend and I enjoyed it, although I too felt it was lacking something... I liked Rosmund Pike's role as the ditzy blond. The story is still very topical, teenage girls succumbing to older men, and how easily people are caught off guard by money, glamour etc - it is sad but it still happens....still a lot of clever con men out there!
