Bit weird of SFF to give out free tickets for regular performances, eh? Anyone heard of this film before?

Did they not do the same for "Fast Girls" last year?

They done this on numerous occasions. The last one being the one with Elijah Wood as a serial killer. I reckon this is a chinese film so will have subtitles.

Edit: yip it is a Chinese film which came out in 2011 in Hong Kong and China. Won some awards and looks decent enough.

Just had a look at the trailer and it does have subtitles, but looks good. Says it was made in 2011 but is only just being released in UK.

Went to see this yesterday & thought it was very decent indeed  .

It's quirkiness set it apart from other martial arts flicks (in a positive way) and all of the fight sequences were incredibly well choreographed. One of those rare occasions when a film appears out of nowhere and ends up being something really rather special.

This is actually the closest I've got this year to awarding a 9/10 to a free film but as the main character makes a truly logic defying decision towards the end of this flick's running time it will just have to make do with an extremely solid 8/10 from me...

That was the best bit! Certainly one way to make your point.

It just didn't work for me:
There was just too much at stake and there was nothing to indicate that the 'gesture' would appease the 72 Demons and prevent any further bloodshed.
Still a great film though & the best free one I've seen this year...

I think this is one strictly for the devotees of blood-curdling martial arts (hacked off ears, arms; throat cutting, etc) movies. Others should stay away, maybe. Wish I had! The plot, such as it was, seemed utterly irrelevant.
