The Big Wedding
Re: The Big Wedding
I'm with eumenides on this. A total waste of talent in a very poor film. Thank goodness for the kind company of tsoiboy!

Re: The Big Wedding
My expectations were quite low given the reviews here and on RT so in a way I was secretly hoping to enjoy The Big Wedding. Why not, it has happened quite a few times, expecting the worst to get quite surprised or at least marginally enjoy a movie. Maybe that's the root of my downfall, evidently my expectations weren't low enough. I did laugh exactly once relatively early on
the honeymoon Venice/Venezuela gaffe
and kept expecting at least a couple more laughs but it all seemed the kind of crude brainless teenage humor that Hollywood can pull off with spectacular success but unfortunately not this time.
Preferred Cinemas: Gate, Coronet, Odeon Kensington, Whiteleys, Vue Westfield, Shepherds Bush, The Lexi or any West End Cinema
Re: The Big Wedding

Re: The Big Wedding
Edinburgh was packed! Given all the screenings they will have no audience left by the time this opens.
I certainly can't think of anyone Iknow (other than my mother-in-law) who would enjoy this drivel. The script was poor to non existant. They seemed to be making it up as they went along to give it any momentum. Most of the characters were superflous to the "story", and boy did it feel like longer than an hour and a half. Given what was on the screen I hate to think what ended upp on the cutting room floor?!
Not offensive, just bad! Ideal Channel 5 Saturday afternoon fodder!
I can only give it 3/10.

Re: The Big Wedding
Saw this tonight at Islington Vue. Lovely to see and catch up with ejwrank.
This was Ok. Good cast but not really funny. Trying too hard at being a farce/comedy but with emotional pathos too. Oscillating between the two. This was not bad but also not great with the pedigree of actors in this film. Lots of tittilating laughter.

Re: The Big Wedding
Went to see this with couple of friends last night.
We laughed so hard. Omg.
Everyone else seemed to laugh too.
Ok story not much. But to be honest when does a comedy have much of a story?
Great fun when u need to forget about every thing and just enjoy a movie
Don't see why this is getting so many bad reviews.
Just wandering did the Same people not enjoy Hall pass or death at a funeral?? Both films I really enjoyed but they also got mixed reviews here but more bad than good.
7/10 from me.

Re: The Big Wedding
Thought this was just awful and intellectually insulting on many different levels. I may have chuckled once, inbetween yawns. Early candidate for worst film of 2013.
Here's a review in the Village Voice that describes it as racist, misogynistic and homophobic. http://www.villagevoice.com/2013-04-24/ ... rce=feedly

Re: The Big Wedding
Saw this yesterday at the Courthouse Hotel in Soho.
A few funny bits but no real laugh out loud moments and too predictable. I think it was missing the 'feel good' factor compared to other similar films. It's a 6/10 from me!
Forgot to mention that after watching the film I went to the gents and one senior citizen said to another in an east London accent "What a load of rubbish, I'm glad I didn't p*y for that crap. Good job I watched The Damn Busters earlier" which made me chuckle!
