This Is The End
Re: This Is The End
Not a great night at the cinema - this was disappointing, funny in a couple of places but overall probably a waste of everyone's time. Followed up with the ultra slow and seemingly endless Everybody Has A Plan. Should've gone to see Iceman after all....

Re: This Is The End
Saw this at Enfield and it was pretty full in there.
I thought this was hilarious, funniest film I've seen this year. Going to watch it again on 18th.

Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue was really packed! I guess that it's always a good idea to arrive early at this cinema since overbooking often occurs there.
I thought the film was funny, but I wouldn't say it's one of the best comedies that I've seen. I always like it when actors play fictional versions of themselves. I couldn't believe the amount of comedy actors in this film. 7.5/10

Re: This Is The End
American Pie meets Mars Attacks meets Shaun of the Dead meets Scary Movie.
Funny in places but not continuously so. I actually didn't recognise enough of the actors (who were playing themselves) to get all of the in-jokes and cross-film references. They just weren't famous enough for the premise of the film to work properly for me. It's almost as if they think they are more famous than they actually are, which makes the film seems a little pretentious.
However, I did like the way the film lulled the viewer in as if watching some kind of stoner movie and then suddenly the action just hit. And just like in Mars Attacks, it was great seeing famous people getting killed off in the first 20 minutes. As for the comedy, it was funny enough to keep me entertained but I guess some people could find the humour a little crude or even juvenile (this is why I make the American Pie comparison). There are plenty of obscure film reference for film buffs but I found most related to the second rate films that most of these actors have had minor roles in. And as for the abundance of Exorcist references - really? Has this not already been done to death?
I do have to make a point about the amount of drug references and drug use shown also - the film almost glorified and applauded the use of class A drugs. I was quite amazed that stars such as Rihanna and Emma Watson - who are idolised may many younger film goers - didn't seem to mind being included in scenes of copious class A drug consumption. I don't think it's clever or funny to blatantly condone such drug use.
That said, the film was a lot funnier than some other comedies out there and it was actually based on a quite clever idea. The special effects and CGI were brilliant and expertly used in a completely over-the-top manner (which would usually ruin any film taking itself seriously). The actors, although apparently 'playing themselves', did take on great roles and gave good performances. I really enjoyed it and it entertained me. I wouldn't usually go to the cinema to watch this type of film and would probably wait until it was on shown on TV before I watched it normally.
I would give this film 6.5/10

Why oh why did I go and see this... 100+ mins I will never get back... I knew I wouldn't like it but the movie managed to be worse than I expected!
Re: This Is The End
Valda sums it up perfectly for me, thought it was very silly and childish, a little gross too but often totally hilarious. I'm not sure what else people were expecting from a film that features the likes of Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, etc??valda wrote:Gross, Peurile, blaspehmous, I loved it. 8/10

Loved the cameos, the fake trailer for Pineapple Express sequel, the exorcism... etc. Great marketing by Toyota too, good to know if it ever comes to the Apocalypse, one car that will be spared by God is a bloody Toyota Prius! The middle did drag a little bit, some jokes were stretched out too long ("I can cum wherever I want" scene for example...), and that dance routine with the Backpassage Boys (as they were known back in the day

Also great to hear a new Black Sabbath track on the credits!

Which track was it? I hadn't heard it before but I liked it a lot. I think War Pigs was also part of the soundtrack, wasn't it?TheDude wrote: Also great to hear a new Black Sabbath track on the credits!

Re: This Is The End
Hilarious if you like these guys and their kind of humour. Pretty spectacular in the special effects department too! Best cameo is from someone who isn't even shown in the trailers and pops up near the end! It's not big or clever but it's packed with cool cameos and movie references and a real treat for fans of these guys!
Re: This Is The End
This is The End. Well, the end couldn't have come soon enough for me!
To add insult to injury, Wandsworth started the film over 20 minutes late.
