Re: Man of Steel
Got there tonight at 18:15 at O2 Greenwich and already most of the central seats had been taken. Thank you again to Shmile.
I really loved this film. I went into this film trying to forget all the previous incarnations of Superman and try accept this film on it's own merits. For me everything worked with the more sombre grittier tone. Just like the last Batman films. The more I think about it the more I like it.
Admittedly the fight scene did go on for a bit.

Re: Man of Steel
After the crushing disappointment of Star Trek Into Darkness this was just the summer blockbuster I needed. Really enjoyed it. Had a bit of a Tree of Life vibe at points, a really great take on the classic story as well as some brilliant sci-fi action.
Yet again, the 3D was completely pointless though.
Still buzzing after seeing this. Can't wait to see what they do next with this franchise!

Re: Man of Steel
You perfectly formulated my issues with this film: It may have been a decent action film if you like the over the top kind of stuff, but Superman it was not. Even after a night's sleep I'm still fed up with where they took this film. All the ingredients of a classic Superman story are missing...moviemannn wrote:This movie although fairly good in some places was very dissapointing for me . I think zack snyder was the wrong person to take the helm of a superman reboot, its just was not made right, it didnt have a classic feeling to it , i just think as a juiced up action movie it was good and people may be won over by this , but as a superman movie it was VERY disappointing, was not put together properly, action was a bit over the top and to be honest the action wasnt even very clear too because of the camerawork , im still trying to draw a full on conclusion about this movie and the only thing that comes to mind right now is that it had potential but they didnt reach it by a mile , and it was given to the wrong director
I'm glad i read the reviews on here because i thought i was going to be alone in my opinions of this movie
We don't see Clark's struggle with discovering his powers, he doesn't hide who he is from his parents or Lois, he's not a dorky Daily Planet reporter but already a hero saving people's lives all across the globe, there was very little of the story set in Metropolis and Smallville, there was no Jimmy Olsen or Lex Luther (I missed the nod to LexCorp), no kryptonite which meant he was nearly invincible and he lost some of his "humanity", etc. etc. etc.
Re: Man of Steel
It was OK but the ending seem to take forever and a day. 6/10 The company was good at the Manchester screening but missed yogi and his OH were you being elusive?
Was that you Matthew1971 with your son on the second to last row? I try and guess who people are but usually get it wrong

Yup a bit of a wait in Edinburgh.. we were there before 6.15 and queue already started. When told ID required bit of a wobbly as had only taken my bag of sweets, no phone and no ID as don't really like bag searches or phones being taken off me. However, just told the guy I was me and he was fine. Unlike Stuartboy he did not recognise my name
Not seen as often. Told film would not start till 7.30. No idea why.
Agree with everyone far too much CGI, fight scenes went on far too long and film itself a bit long. Felt lack of air with us all being in there so long.
That said, enjoyed the film missed the music we are all used to. Liked the chap in the audience with the Superman T shirt on.
New Superman and slant on the story was good and felt he was so much more believable than the SM on the TV.
8.5/10 from us

You're lucky, at the O2, no ID and you didn't get in.marjoreemarjora wrote:Yup a bit of a wait in Edinburgh.. we were there before 6.15 and queue already started. Apparently the start of the film had to exactly coincide with the premiere in Leicester Square...

Re: Man of Steel
I really like my superhero movies. They're big, fun and the perfect break from reality. Unless, that is, they are Man of Steel.
Did they really have to make it so shaky? Did it have to be so long, with the drawn out fight scenes that were terribly choreographed? And was there no way to make it less ... boring? I didn't mind them going back and forth in time, I was okay with him first being a hero and only then becoming a nerdy reporter. But it seemed like they wrote a few basic scenes and then tried to stretch them into a summer blockbuster.
5/10 (and most of it because of Henry Cavill looking good - at least in the beginning, because when they got rid of facial hair and put him in the lizard scale costume he lost some of the appeal for me)

We weren't being elusive, I think we were just exhausted after the endless battles and keen to get home at the end.Diane65 wrote:It was OK but the ending seem to take forever and a day. 6/10 The company was good at the Manchester screening but missed yogi and his OH were you being elusive? Was that you Matthew1971 with your son on the second to last row? Looking forward to tonight's film even more after last night's epic 3 and half hours at the cinema!

It started at 8pm at Leicester Square so I don't think that is correct.asamaic wrote:You're lucky, at the O2, no ID and you didn't get in.marjoreemarjora wrote:Yup a bit of a wait in Edinburgh.. we were there before 6.15 and queue already started.
