I will say I was a little bit disappointed with the ending as I thought we were going to be treated to one final action based sequence in Nova Scotia but despite that I still think this flick deserves an 8/10 from me...

Re: World War Z
Just got back from a free screening (of sorts, a friend pa*d for my ticket due to me helping them out earlier this week
) and have to say I really enjoyed this. Thought it moved along a pretty brisk pace, was both tense & suspenseful and had some really great set pieces.

Well...what can I say? It holds the tension well throughout the entire film, pretty much started and got on with it without the boring lead-up that most films seem to adopt nowadays. Was I the only one who thought that it was pretty dam obvious the virus was
rabies? (there were several mentions of outbreaks worldwide before the Z outbreak)
, found it far-fetched that
jeruselum knew it was going to happen before anyone else did(unless they had some involvement in it?)
Once they arrived at the 'secret' research facility in wales, I struggled to see or hear a single welsh person in attendance, and failed to grasp any sense of 'surprise' as from then on, the plot and events that followed were entirely predictable.
And don't even get me started on the ending!

For that to be true, it would have to be a pretty mutated form, since what you're suggesting kills people pretty much always, and these guys weren't dropping dead. I think they were mentioning it because at first that's what they thought it was. I agree that it very easily could have been a greatly mutated form of that virus, but I don't think it was obvious that that was what it was.rawr_xoxo wrote:Well...what can I say? The lack of Welsh people was a bit funny, though it was
The World Health Organization
and not just a Welsh laboratory and therefore an entirely Welsh team would actually look out of place, since
its a UN branch.
But a Welsh person would have been nice, yes.
As far as the ending goes, I found it refreshing because it was different, maybe it was disappointing for those who wanted
a cure or final showdown
but I thought it was creative, and I thought how they got there was really interesting and fresh as well.
The old guy I got but when it first happened that they were running past the kid I thought he was just deaf! Which actually did lead me to believe until they got to the WHO that he and the soldier were safe because they were injured, but being terminal makes more sense.
I also keep seeing posts on Facebook, which I presume to be about WWZ, saying they hate it when zombie movies are PG-13 (these are mostly Americans). I'm not sure what more they wanted. To get an R rating the film would have needed either more blood and gore, a couple f-bombs, or a graphic sex scene. Brad Pitt won't be doing sex scenes anymore out of respect to his wife, so that's out, foul language isn't necessary, and I was cool with the amount of blood there was. Maybe they're saying it without having seen the film and just making assumptions, knowing these people it wouldn't surprise me at all if that was the case, but I'm not really sure what more was necessary.

Saw this in Falkirk with a voucher. Must say OH and I really enjoyed this especially spotting Glasgow in the first 10 minutes or so in the film. Yes the zombies are superhuman but it was tense from the start and personally I like how it ended. 8/10

Only read once you have seen the film.
It isn't only the ending that was changed.

Re: World War Z
Saw this today in 3D with a voucher Omni had given us when they messed up a times screening.
Easily spotted the scenes set in Glasgow and not America.
Thoroughly enjoyed it especially as there were only 10 of us at this screening - so no crunching, mobile phones, rustling bags or latecomers!! BLISS!

The right company is everything, but the fact that they're willing to go again must count for something!moviemannn wrote:Watching this at the Coronet tonight in Notting Hill, had to prebook last week , reviews on here seem to be quite good, but a few of my friends who have seen it are all not impressed , going with someone who has seen it already and was not impressed too so im not sure if i'm in the right company to be able to enjoy this movie !

This would be true under normal circumstances but this person is only coming tonight as otherwise he knows he will feel the full force of my wrath !caitlinmorton wrote:The right company is everything, but the fact that they're willing to go again must count for something!moviemannn wrote:Watching this at the Coronet tonight in Notting Hill, had to prebook last week , reviews on here seem to be quite good, but a few of my friends who have seen it are all not impressed , going with someone who has seen it already and was not impressed too so im not sure if i'm in the right company to be able to enjoy this movie !
Basically I booked the tickets last week but then he went up north over the weekend and ended up watching it there with some family members, and he knows he cant flop on me which is why hes coming tonight !
