I think I may just photocopy last year's TV licence and send it to them... they show me enough repeats for my money. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

I think my off topic post is going off topic

Anyway, the point I'm making is that the number of screenings made available to those who don't take out subscriptions is in decline.

I'd guess I attended on average about 4 previews a month when I first joined this forum almost 3 years ago.

Now it's down to about 2 per month max.

The 'missing' 2 have been snatched by Sky & co. How long before this becomes more?

Not long I'd suggest. :wall:

Have you considered that Sky are finding it difficult to find screens outside London (or should I say not their own sponsored screen at the 02) to put on previews?

I had a look at the expired stuff board, and for June, I think there were only free screenings in Edinburgh for The Moth Diaries, Summer in February and The Internship. Tiz may have a point - I didn't realise how few previews Edinburgh were getting, it really surprises me, it's also a capital city!

Given Glasgow seems to get more films, I can only speculate the screens in Edinburgh are more expensive and maybe SFF doesn't get as much post film feedback. Tiz, you have my sympathies!

I also had a look on Eventbrite, as it can be good for films sometimes. There is only one coming up for Edinburgh, and frankly it sounds weird: https://newcivilisationdawns-es2.eventb ... uk/?rank=2

The number of screenings from SFF is much lower than what it was say 2 years ago, so there are fewer screenings period, regardless of location.

Discussions about London bias or subscription screenings are kind of fruitless as there is not much anyone can change about this - we just have to take what we get and remember that it's never been a given to get tickets for any screening and that we can't prevent companies from giving perks to their customers. There are sometimes ways around it (like guest accounts on Sky or getting a cheap SIM card for Virgin screenings) but at the end of the day it is as it is, and as I can't find much merit in this thread anymore, I am going to close it.
