Feel bad cause i LOL'd a lot through this movie! Those guys were soo stupid but funny! However i DO NOT condone kidnapping, torture, extortion or murder! And they got their comeuppance in the end. I even thought Mr Kershaw was funny..but it was hard to get Monk out my head lol

Nice to see biggins again and to meet alythonian

Ooops forgot to rate it....7/10

This was truly disgusting - I hated every minute of it. Overlong, not funny, terrible acting, stomach-turning gruesome scenes- why did I waste my Sky allocation on this? Where is the humour in three idiots torturing and killing some people? And The Rock punching a priest because he came on to him - just sick.

Just pain, no gain.

Somewhat different to what I expected. The notion that they effectively turned 3 pretty bad characters into the 3 stooges is a bit iffy I admit, but I enjoyed it for the most. I did find myself checking my watch about 90 minutes in, but overall I did enjoy it.

The Rock definitely stole the show in this one 7/10

This was fantastic & what a surprise from everyone's kicking-boy, michael bay !

If this had carried the names of the coen brothers, this would be up for oscars next year !

The darkest of dark comedies, with pitch perfect performances by all involved.

This is the first thing since boogie nights that I have liked mark wahlberg.

Easily one of the films of the year.

9/10

This was funny for a while until they decided to torture Kershaw and then run him over. Did not realise it was a true story until it was subtitled on a screenshot next to Dwayne Johnston 3/4 of the way through as I don't know much about films until I see them and the trailers made it look like a comedy. Once aware then it became quite a bit more gruesome and Mark seemed to become more nasty as time went on. Surprised to see Michael Bay's name at end as I only know him for cocking up with Rosie Whittingwhatshername in Transformers 3, but then he had a penchant for nudity so I guess not so surprising there. Still despite it's shocking nature it was interesting to watch and I did not find it too long at all.

My sentiments exactly. I hated this too. It seemed so long and went on and on, I just couldn't wait for it to end. Nodded off too! 4/10

The highlight was catching up with Beate, seems a long time we had not seen each other. o/

biggins wrote:Too far fetched to be a true story surely - even if they showed the "real" people at the end of the film. About 20 minutes too long and couldn't class it as a comedy, although some parts were funny but cruel.

A long wait in the queue at the Omni tonight to get in as the film before didn't come out until 6.20pm and ours was due to start at 6.30 but was only a few minutes late.
How odd. I arrived at exactly 6.20pm (following a mad rush down from Dundee) only to be told by the SKY rep that the screening was full after there having been a long queue. I doubt they'd have had a chance to find their seats let alone be full. Normally I'd have been clicking my heels with glee at the prospect of getting to see something else instead, but with a seeming glut of vouchers at the moment i'm struggling to find things I've not seen. Opted for The Wolverine which was a good deal, but now I'll have to use a voucher to see Pain and Gain. Bah.

And what was this about the people sitting on the stairs at the O2? There were plenty of seats at the front, they just didn't want to sit there! Morons.

Snap! :X
I didn't like this use of farce/comedy in the telling a real life story particularly as it involved murder and violence. I'm sure the relatives of those who were murdered will find nothing entertaining about this version of a series of dreadful crimes. There is always a debate about shooting a film of real life events particularly so soon after the real events. This film should not have been made in this style. I would have preferred to see the story told as a straight forward story ie factual. That would have made a greater impact! :tears:
Marks 4/10 at a push! I'm not sure I'd even use a voucher to see this,sb, and I certainly wouldn't p*y to see it!
