Empire Leicester Square
Re: Empire Leicester Square
The initial screen wasn't an IMAX screen, do they even have space for that? I can't imagine them having space for more than one screen if one of them is going to be an IMAX.

Re: Empire Leicester Square
Why not? They don't have be to be extremely huge - the Odeon Greenwich has an IMAX screen.

Re: Empire Leicester Square
Indeed. Kingston has a pretty small IMAX screen or Fake IMAX as it's often referred to. Screens are considerably smaller than the IMAX at Waterloo, so could easily be one of the two divided screens. The link below shows the difference between the two.

Re: Empire Leicester Square
hey is Kingston IMAX so small. It feels huge every time I go in, perhaps its the seating that makes it feel less. nothing tops waterloo anyway (and for prices too sadly). Weird how Kingston imax seems bigger when you sit on a side aisle but quite close too.
Wimbledon IMAX feels bigger than Kingston, but I always felt that was because of the steeper sloped seats so you are closer to the screen. Swiss cottage looks dwarfish by comparison (mind you the seating there cuts off about 1/6th of the screen in the wrong seats).
Surely theres room in screen 1 for an IMAX.

From the picture on the link it looks as if the Imax screen is going to be the rear screen with the current rear sloped seated area included in the Imax screen
Re: Empire Leicester Square
I like how the artist's impression includes 2 sets of random people talking.

Re: Empire Leicester Square
I am a bit annoyed that they'd call that an IMAX, like Jay, I am more in favour of calling it LieMax!
That said, according to their FB page, the new Empire thing (24.5m*13m) is gonna be way bigger than the O2 Superscreen (22m*9.2m)!
I'll be sticking to BFI IMAX for IMAX shot movies, but will look forward to try this new massive screen for regular features!
As a comparison
