The back of the cinema was full up quite early on with the odd single seat here and there, the punters arriving at 6:30 had no chance, one pair of women were tutting that they had to sit apart lol.
The first few minutes were a bit disturbing, thought my eyesight had gone but once it was sorted I was fine. Nice length, plenty of tension and a few jumpy bits. 8/10

Beautifully shot, Odyssey-esque, sci-fi space thriller that doesn't insult one's intelligence. Gorgeous camera work, outstanding acting and excellent cinematography. 10/10 from me. Best film I've seen this year. Would LOVE to watch a 'making of'. Can't wait for the extras disc on the 2 DVD special edition ;)

Very little needs to be seen in 3D. I'm sure it will work very well in 2D.

Visually stunning experience with some incredible direction, let down by some contrivances in the script and moments that i just kept rolling my eyes at (
Like George Clooney Halucination AND George Clooney letting go of Bullok, some "emotional" scenes that felt cliched and/or undeserved. The fire that happened to start as soon as she arrived at the International Space Station
), but held together by fantastic atmosphere and acting by Bullok, along with some spectacular 3d (i love the 3d medium, so glad it was used effectively here)

Although i do admit there was 15 minutes in the middle where i was desperately trying to hold in a gigantic burp that was building up in my stomach out of respect of my fellow cinema goers, and it got incredibly painful. But it subsided

7.5/10 from me
Personally, I would have said
I don't want to die alone.

I'm sure the fire was already burning but her arrival might have affected the oxygen levels which then fed the fire.
I watched this film with my mouth open in amazement for a lot of the time as it did look beautiful and it was quite tense for much of the time.

However, once it got to the point when
Clooney opened the shuttle door. It went downhill for me. No way would he have done that nor would she have survived had he opened the hatch. Therefore I was already suspicious before we saw it was an hallucination.
I did wonder if
the escape pod might explode or something on re-entry which would have been spectacular. As such the ending was a little meh for me. My friend wondered if a shark might leap out and get her. I wondered if pirates might shoot her.
No way is this my film of the year. 7/10 at best

Quite simply, this was amazing. Loved the cinematography, Sandra Bullock's performance, George Clooney's character's comedic role, and most of all LOVED the soundtrack. Beautiful and haunting.

It all just worked so well and I really b*ght in to the tension. Also wanted to say this is the first film since Avatar for me that the 3D really worked and added to the film.

Soundtrack amazing. Nailed on Oscar nomination for Bullock and for cinematography.

10/10

haha, the husband thought the same about the shark.

Very nice film, loved the 3D and the acting, though I wish Clooney had been the main character rather than Sandra. I've just never really liked her as an actress (bar the blind side). There were a few times where
we were looking forward to her not making it back to earth.
Overall 8/10

Tense and compelling throughout. The visuals were gorgeous and at some points the spinning camerawork made me feel queasy - for me this is the main success of the film. The 3D really added to the cinematic experience and I am sure this would have been more effective on an even bigger screen. Great performances from Bullock and Clooney but overall was not as impressed as I expected to be.

It may make my top 10 films of 2013 but definitely not one of my favourites. 8/10.

My rule of thumb is to be there for 6, and then just play with my phone/chat till it starts as its not worth the grief of showing up later and either not sitting with partner or getting a shoddy seat. Unfortunately it couldnt be helped this time.

Also, could we please ban plastic bags from being opened during a film. I might just being OTT but take your crisps, can etc out of your tesco bag before the film starts not during a quiet point!

Can we just ban popcorn completely until
A) Cinemas go back to the relatively quiet cardboard tubs & not these obviously cheaper paper bags
B) People learn to chew quietly? It's possible... and very easy to do!

This is single biggest thing that ruins my cinema experience - above mobile phone fiddlers & talkers
