Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom

I really enjoyed the film. Solid performance from Idriss Elba, though somehow he always manages to remind me of his character in Luther. There were traces in this film too.

Naomie Harris, gave a very good performance. The film did give a good sense of the difficulties they both faced as well as the great strength of character of each.

An informative and moving film, though not quite as emotionally charged (I feel) as was Invictus.

Thoroughly enjoyed this film and it was good to see his life before what we all know since his captivity on Robin Island. Idris Elba was excellent in the role of Mandela and the ageing off him was realistic. Long film but the time flew by as totally absorbing.

Thoroughly enjoyed this in a packed Edinburgh. Was early so had a look at the shops only to arrive at 6 and be told doors opened at 5.45. Wish they would be consistent. But great as Biggins had kept us seats. Nice to see Nosila50.

I, like some others was interested to see how Idris Elba dealt with this. Fantastic, very believable,ageing well. Must have put such a lot of work into perfecting the accent. Remembered Naomie Harris from Small Island and think Skyfall?. Excellent leads and although we all know the outcome of the struggles compelling viewing. Time passed quickly in a hot cinema and for once very little noise as everyone so engrossed.

As Stuartboy said beautiful scenery. Would happily watch again.

9/10 from us too.

Not seen this yet but looking forward to it moreso having read the reviews on here.

I'd be interested to see how it compares to Goodby Bafana (which I thought was very good) starring Dennis Haysbert as the lead - the film is more focused on the relationship between Mandela and his Guard.

Saw this at MetroCentre tonight along with a largely older Times+ crowd. A bit wary given some of the reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The way they made Idris Elba age was brilliant. The time flew by in the screening.

Saw this tonight in Glasgow Quay. Full house though only 60 seats so not too difficult to fill!
I really enjoyed watching this film and thought the acting from both main actors, Idris Elba & Naomie Harris, was great.
Obviously I do remember some of the parts from my earlier life so enjoyed seeing the gaps in my knowledge filled in.
Delighted to see this for free and would happily watch again.

I would advise those of you who are going to see this film on Sunday and Monday in particular, to arrive early as I doubt there will be many who will waste tickets now that Mandela has passed away tonight.

Remember that latecomers are not guaranteed entry and that they issue more tickets to compensate for no shows.

You will kick yourself if you miss this film.

Went to see this a couple of nights ago & although I wasn't as impressed as other FMUKers I still thought it was a solid film.

Vocally Idris Elba was very good but I didn't think that physically he was suited to the role, Naomie Harris on the other hand was surprisingly good, I really wasn't expecting such a powerful performance from her.

I'm sure that I would have had a heightened emotional response to this had I watched it following tonight's announcement...however I don't think it would have changed my opinion of this film ratings wise.

Overall this is a decent biographical drama that did more than enough to earn a 7/10 from me...

Does anyone know if the previews are still planned to go ahead? As all codes to the free films are now coming up as invalid. Just wondering if because of the sad news, they've cancelled future screenings
