Amazingly mild and sunny (in Surrey, anyway) for late December, and way better than the awful weather which was forecast. I got so hot walking that I discarded my cagoule, which feels like a record for the time of year.

I hope you are all travelling safely today. The storm is front page news and if you want to leave London today do it as soon as possible as there will be speed restrictions on the rail networks, and cuts in the number of trains from 3pm. Winter Wonderland has apparently been closed today too.

Glad asamaic made it to Scotland; hoping Valda also reached her destination and that everyone else is safe and well. Here all the trains have been suspended and many buses, too, owing to flooding, fallen trees, debris, etc - and of course, some train/bus drivers can't get to work anyway.

not sure if its because I'm Northern or because I'm an Indian lol. But I would like to add that I voted for being completely eglatarian/fair in group cost with a normal group of peoples. No point in being thrifty if you aren't sharing.

Yeah, some of the questions are rather weird. While I think nothing of taking my own drinks to the cinema, I would never underpay my share of a restaurant bill or haggle in a charity shop.
