Re: Weight Watchers
Wow you do a lot of running Mr Glass, very envious.
I had a bit of a workout last night getting to the cinema. my daughter took me, she is at least a foot taller than me and walks quite quickly, not good when I was on crutches. By the time we got to the cinema I had had built up quite 'sweat'.
I have to be more mobile but that was ott.
So, tea and toast
More salad - chicken this time + water
Making corned beef pie for my munchins, will have some filling with veg + water

Tis no bother, easy to do. Will have a looksy at the weekend for you! If they are still there, it will be good to see them put to use :-)Preston1990 wrote:Thanks for the very kind offer of looking in the loft to search out good clarinet tunes from your old school books, Mesa7719. It seems a trifle extreme but if you are sure that you don't mind doing it that would be brilliant thanks. No rush though, still haven't mastered the old Acker Bilk classic yet![]()
It's (very) early days for me and the clarinet but I am making some progress now. Although I did spend two days with the mouthpiece facing the wrong way upwhich obviously didn't help.

Dont be envious of my running. Running too much especially long distances isnt actually healthy for the body long term! Some pro runners may beg to differ but everything should be done in moderation including what you eat and variety is the name of the game. Applying variety of stresses to various parts of the body in short bursts is the healthy way to do it. Building up a sweat is great but not over exertion. Sounds like your walk to the cinema was just right though and you built up a little sweat...fantastic, though of course you know already you have to be careful when you are recovering from an injuries. If you got a Wii or something, play games with your daughter so you working the upper body to work up that sweat safely whilst also adding balance to your exercises :)
When you have a leg injury (is that what you have?), also be conscience of posture in everything you do, like cooking etc. Its easy to slump into bad postures, hunched back etc, always try to press your shoulders back stomach out when doing any daily chores, activities, or when sitting in the office at work. Well everyone should be trying to do that anyway!
Stone_Monkey, I'm reading more about you, you rock! Keep up the fantastic journey. If I may, just so you know, I was exactly your weight, even more at 19 stones. I also quit smoking over 13 years ago I think....lost the body fat by adopting a healthy living lifestyle that I can maintain for life. You look like you are on a similar path if not, an even better one. It feels great, good times ahead of you mate, Go Stone Monkey go...like that name too, gotta Shaolin Bros ring to it.
Diane, congrats on losing the lbs
A few of us are here going to meet up in April and have a big treat day, so lets work hard for that :)
Have a healthy day guys

Re: Weight Watchers
Thought I would pop in and let you all know I am still around but not doing well on the weight front.
Just back from the hospital today as hubby is still having blackouts and they can't find the reason for it. They put him on a new blood pressure pill and thought that had sorted things out but we were going on holiday at the beginning of January and he collapsed at the check in desk at the airport on our way to Gran Canaria. Fortunately they allowed us to travel and he was fine all the time we were away but we didn't do much walking as he was frightened in case it happened again and with the lovely food and the all inclusive drinks I rather indulged. Now I am back at the same weight I was this time last year and can't get motivated to do something about it.
The weather here hasn't been great for walking and I don't want to leave hubby on his own for too long either. Must start by getting back to the swimming and perhaps that will give me a kick start.
Good to see you posting again Preston. Good luck with the cycling but don't play the clarinet at the same time!!

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks Mr G for the comments. I slipped in work and did something nasty to my Achilles tendon and ligaments and now have been diagnosed with Complex regional pain syndrome. My daughter says it's only one letter short of what she thinks about it!
i have to be careful about the amount of exercise the foot gets as the calf hasn't had a lot to do lately and I had a terrific pain, surge up from the ankle to the back of the knee. Now been told to do gentle stretching exercises to get it back into a usable condition. I do the chair exercises on youtube, boy they can get tough!
Today
Tea & toast
remains of the yesterdays filling glass of water
egg and mash - I love this water
Haven't missed the alcohol ......yet.

Oh Baty that sounds awful! I feel for you though, I know how frustrating it is with an injury.

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks missmac. I do get frustrated as I am usually up and about, especially in work - hardly ever sit in my classes. Now I have enforced restrictive mobility and it can drive me crazy!

It's a case of you don't know what affect it has until you can't do something. Don't rush it though! My words of advice (which my physio gave me)

Woah - It's like Grand Central Station in here these days!
It really is so busy and buzzing - I'm feeding off everyone's enthusiasm (fortunately, it's calorie free!!)
Got loads of things that I want to say, so briefly and in no particular order:
Lovely to hear from you Biggins - sounds like you and hubby have been having a very worrying time recently. Hopefully the docs will come up with a solution soon - it may just be a matter of hitting on the right medication and allowing time for it to settle down. Your recent weight gain reminds me of what happened to me over the last few months (see my weighloss record in my signature for details). I'm determined to regain my last year's sylphlike figure
- could we not tempt you back to our little fold to rejoin us on our journey? It would be great to have you along again!
Great to see you back treading these hallowed boards once again MrG - I really enjoy your motivational posts.
Sorry to hear that you've dropped to a lower squash league, but I've no doubt that you'll regain your rightful position when you apply that legendary determination to succeed which you have. To this day, I still think about your jacket story and smile. Good luck for your squash game today!
Well done on the continued alcohol abstinence, Baty
Be careful not to exercise too much until your foot problem resolves. ....
or risk a severe ticking off from our resident Podiatrist
Thanks for agreeing to brave your loft for me and my clarinet Mesa7719.
Best of luck with your weigh-day tomorrow Stone-Monkey.
Finally, I have great pleasure in reporting that I have lost 3 pounds this week despite failing to do any exercise to speak of apart from a couple of short walks.
I put it down to the power of salads and vegetables (are you listening Diane
