FMUK in the News

#1 Post by ejwrank » Sat Mar 22, 2014 3:01 pm

Daughter just noticed that The Guardian has a supplement in today's paper called "Do Something" and FMUK are included. We're in the section called Fun for everyone--20 adventures that don't cost a thing and have clocked in at Number 7!

Join the film critics

It's not just the reviewers that get to see new releases for free and before the rest of us: studios hope that preview screenings will lead to positive online comments by members of the public and that a good word of mouth will later translate to box office success.

To be in with a chance of a seat at these advance shows, you need to sign up to film preview websites such as showfilmfirst.com and tellten.co.uk which will send you screening codes for new films. You then enter the code on the website to find participating cinemas and print out two free tickets. (You'll still need to p*y for your popcorn though.) On fmuk.org.uk users share codes, swap tickets and discuss the films.

What, we're only number 7? Outraged! :p

I jest. A big thank you to everyone who posts codes and helps make sure this site keeps ticking along. I see so many films and shows thanks to this site, I'd be bored without it. o/

On the other hand, the more members - the more competition for tickets. Also the more publicity - the more aware the providers are of us and possible stricter issuing of tickets/closure of loopholes etc.

Although, on a positive note, the more members we have the more input they make and the more content we have on our site, reviews, opinions, articles of interest. That said, I'm already spending ages keeping up as it is! Lol.

On balance, as the forum is a non-profit making enterprise, is there any benefit to publicity at all? (Compared to say a company with shareholders, and need for customers). Nice being recognised for what we are though. :-)

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)
