Wow thanks asamaic, so many apps there! Uptil now I have not been exercising much and have been concentrating on losing the weight by eating less. With some walking I could lose weight more quicker. Definitely would like to try one of these...

I have been to scared to join this thread as i don't do diets, infact my eating habits are quite shocking! Today i had coffee for breakfast, lunch and dinner...and have only just had cheese on toast...(no lectures please lol) I eat better on other days! However i go to the gym at least three times a week, I used to have runkeeper(its fantastic!) but my phone doesnt have enough memory to install it again grrr. I also do zumba once or twice a week. Any kind of exercise is good as long as it gets the heart pumping and the blood flowing o/

P.S You better get ya butt into gear MrG for that half marathon ;)
Preferred cinemas: Any in Edinburgh!

Welcome on board Chelle1973 and I know that you are super fit and trim but a healthy balanced diet is so important for long term health - I'm not lecturing you but concerned re your lack of food as one of my friends who is very similar to yourself in build and exercise wise had a minor injury which took forever to heal due to her depleted diet. Get posting your exercise tips then we can feed of each other.

Every bone in my body is aching today after the exercise DVD and yet another mammoth gardening session - I think it is the digging up tree roots again that has done it but now have a very pretty Kilmarnock willow tree in my front garden. Still have a long way to go on the gardening front but with some hard work it will be worth it plus plenty of exercise :D We could do with a gardening thread as I don't really know what I'm doing just being guided by 2 friends who happen to be amazing gardeners. :D

Hi chelle1973! o/

I weigh myself every day to track the fluctuations, and better understand the impact of what I'm putting into my poor body. This week, I had one really bad day where I was so upset I only ate 200 calories, and you know what, whilst my weight plummeted overnight, it then went back up and plateaued for days. It didn't matter that I was eating normally and exercising, it took most of the week to convince my body I wasn't going to deprive it of nutrients every day and for my weight to stabilise.

I do therefore think there's something in this 'starvation theory' - if you haven't eaten very much and know you're really under your calorie allowance, do force yourself to graze on a few things.

Is it because you're not really hungry, or too busy to stop and make something?

I keep a stash of WeightWatchers cakes, because they're only around 90 calories each, individually wrapped, taste nice, and I'm guaranteed to be in the mood for one of them at all times. Hard fruit like apples tend to keep for a while, so they're something you can have lying around just in case. I also like the Heinz squeeze and stir soups because they taste nice, are one of your five-a-day, you can stick them in a drawer for months, and it's just a case of boiling some water in a kettle, not having to put a pan on the hob.

Coffee is very much a part of my lifestyle too, I'll back you all the way on excessive consumption there! I can't believe how late in life I started drinking it. o/

Plan for today: have to go for a long walk, apparently my total miles for the week are far lower than last week! Can't be having that, eh?

Shame we don't live near each other as that is my plan for this evening so we could have gone together. Meeting a friend for lunch so will have to be really careful on the calorie front. Now off to do a couple of hours work :D

Great to see we have some new contributors - Welcome chelle1979 and rapunzel :D

....And....Wow!, what a fantastic amount of weight you've lost rapunzel. Well done! o/

Thanks for posting a link to those fitness related apps asamaic. I'll be checking them out later on. I've been meaning to pension off my very old nokia phone. Yes Diane, the one that sometimes even decides to text people without my knowledge

I need to upgrade to a smartphone really, as I presume those apps are based on GPS technology which doesn't seem to be supported very well on my tablet computer thing either.

Had a bit of drama earlier on when I set fire to a wok whilst making my lunch 8O

I was heating it up on the hob and just about to throw my chopped up veggies into it, when I remembered that I had a pack of spinach leaves that could go in as well. I only turned my back for a second - next thing I knew was the tablespoon of oil in the wok caught alight. It was quite scary how high the flames got - but I managed to get the blazing wok transported out into the back garden pretty quickly as the back door was already open. The amount of smoke was incredible. Once out of the house the fire soon burned itself out and I was just breathing a sigh of relief when my OH rushed up from her weeding tasks having smelt the smoke and caught me red-handed :nono:

My second attempt at lunch was more successful, I had my stir fried veg with noodles and soy sauce. :D

Well you certainly know how to set fire to this thread, Preston. Seriously very glad that there was only a bit of smoke damage and how lucky that the garden door was open.

I found your JL cake experience, whilst discussing the need for action on the diet front to be perfectly balanced. Where better to talk about such things than a John Lewis cafe with a tasty drink and rich dessert in front of your goodselves? And the fact that both were free seemed to make it seem far less a luxury and much more of a necessity. I mean, who are we to neglect such freebies???

Glad that you got the fire sorted out Preston1990

Welcome Rapunzel and well done on the weight loss o/

Just been out for lunch with the friend who said I looked dreadful when I lost weight almost 2 years ago now and she was saying how well I looked with my double chin and spare tyre  She didn't say the last bit but I am baffled as to why when I am clearly too heavy for my build that she would think I looked better like this plus she did have a bit of a go at me re trying to reduce my calories and increasing my exercise. She's been my best friend for 40 years and was again stunned me re her opinion on me getting healthy. Has anyone else come across negativity like this?

Enjoy your youtube videos Baty o/

Yeah Diane, ......but that's a feature, rather than an error - I'm going to call it "predictive dialling" - people would p*y a lot of money for that facillity. ;)

I smiled when I read your reaction to what your friend had said to you,....... and then laughed even louder at the "you need to update" comment your weightloss ticker thing is sending out now!!

Clearly you won't satisfy them both. :p

I want your lifestyle Baty :D

Congratulations about conquering your diabetes Stone Monkey - that really is fantastic news! You must be so pleased. o/ Thanks also about the tips for things to do in the Peebles area. We had a fantastic three days there - it is such a lovely area in fantastic countryside. The weather was great which meant that we were able to make the most of our time there. Do you live in that part of the world? You are obviously very knowledgeable about the area.
