Re: Pompeii 3D
Thought this was pretty average - really poor script and wooden characters - the effects were ok but 3D added virtually nothing to the experience.

Yeah Romans are technically Italians but then they would have spoken Latin. Perhaps his character Corvus picked up the accent whilst he spent time in Britannia.steve wrote:Thought Romans were Italians so why did he feel he needed an English accent. Hope he never has to play an Englishman.
As for the ridiculous -

"I'll see you back at the villa." I plan to use this line continuously from now on.
Dreadful script and what was Kiefer Sutherland doing? I thought he was just awful.
But super FMUK company at Vue West End!

Re: Pompeii 3D
I thought this was a pile of pants to be honest. The accents were horrendous. Kiefer Sutherland sounded like he was having a problem with his false teeth!
The female lead was wooden to the point that she resembled a talking wooden spoon.
The story was weak the acting weaker.
Thank goodness it was unintentionally funny in part as that just about made it ok to have given up 2hours to watch it.
The 3d was pointless and I felt it ruined my memories go having been to Pompeii.
2/10 from me.

Re: Pompeii 3D
I also have been to Pompeii and seen the fossilised bodies in the ruins so it was quite real in that respect. But they were taken unawares as it happened so quickly not like the film when they had all these warnings.
I was quite confused at the start as I too was convinced that it was a young girl and so thought that the girl grew up to be the female slave.
The most annoying thing tonight was the elderly couple who came in at the last minute with a large shopping bag and sat behind me and continued to rustle and munch their way through the first half hour of the film. My daughter said they were sitting beside them at "Plastic" and did the same then.
Perhaps we could divide the seating in the cinema into two halves - one side for those who want to munch, rustle and play with their mobile phones - and the other side for folk like us that want to just sit and watch in peace and quiet.
Good to catch up with Marjoreemarjora and Nosila50 and their OH's.

Re: Pompeii 3D
Slightly better than expected due to the action scences but it did seem to borrow alot from other film's. I wasn't crazy about the acting either Kiefer Sutherland was simply terrible. 6/10 for effort.

Re: Pompeii 3D
Terrible movie with every possible cliche in the book. The only upsides to it we're that it made for some good laughs (at it, not with it) and the free packet of my favourite popcorn! 2/10

Re: Pompeii 3D
-acting ranged ok to weak to terrible. Kiefer, now we know why your career yo yos between tv and cinema despite the best nepotism possible. Ade as Atticus was the standout, a bit like a character from Spartacus.
-bad script.
-flimsy story tie in.
-good effects in the last half if you are in the mood for that apocalypse kind of thing. Pick the biggest screen you can if that's your game.
I guess you could sit back and pretend it was the Further Adventures of Jon Snow..

Re: Pompeii 3D
Am I the only person who didn't think the child was a girl?
Storyline was filmsy, but who doesn't like a strong, good-looking man who happens to be loved by all ponies?
I will say this for The Celt, he's definitely one of those silent types. When he wasn't killing people, he was mainly staring at them.
It's Pompeii, it was always going to be about the action. Fairly violent and brutal, but big volcano going boom and the Roman army in full swing, you kinda expect that. As raj101 says, one for the big screen. There's no way I'd watch this on video, there wouldn't be any point. Decent 3D.
It was lovely to run into ejwrank, valda, cliveas and pxc.
Sorry for running off, was legging it to the tube!

Re: Pompeii 3D
Not quite sure what the point of the Scotland (Northern Brittania) nor the London bit was for to be honest. Served nothing other than to be back story for Milo (what sort of a Scottish name was that?). Even that seemed plagarised from Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
Was waiting throughout for Keifer Sutherland to say, "Ding-dong!" or "Ra-ather!" but he didn't.
Meet me at the harbour! Haha. Never mind that no-one can breathe nor see.
Is there really a couple embracing in Pompeii? I can understand the bodies preseved where they lay, but frozen standing up? Hmmm.
Have always wanted to visit Pompeii since I was wee. Am guessing if this film is popular that tourism will soar there this year. Pity.
