Well.
That was rather fun!
Pretty much what one would have expected from yet another recycled Hollywood movie. That said the characters were good and made sense. The 3D came into its own with the close up monster fighting. The best by far was the sound which boomed round the cinema.
Quite a few plot-holes
eg. how come the tracking device they used to find the warhead worked yet all electronic equipment had been rendered useless by the electomagnetic pulses? And how was the female MUTO already pregnant BEFORE she had met with the male? And the sudden conclusion that just because one MUTO had no wings and couldn't fly meant that they were opposite sexes?
8/10

Better than some recent Marvel efforts.

Maybe it really should have been titled Puff The Magic Dragon!

Fantastic cinematography and visuals. rubbish cast, wooden as hell. Too cheesy as well. I know they wan't to appeal to the whole family unit but I don't want back story, wives and children etc. I want to be entertained and scared, a bit, like when I first saw Alien. 8/10 for Gareth Edwards
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Back from Glasgow cineworld. Lovely to finally meet Evildazi and posse though didn't really chat much. Out screen was out of focussed at the beginning so got the cinema to get it back into focus. She did ask if it was the same with the glasses on. Of course it was.

Personally I really enjoyed this. And it was ten times better than Matthew Broderick's one. Yes plot holes like
near the end why did he stay on the wee boat when we know he can't stop the nuclear warhead and he already set the boat to auto and go?
Aaron Taylor-Johnson was unrecognisable till I looked closely. And that first ten or so minutes was heartbreaking. And did I miss something near the first bit when
Bryan Cranston's character suddenly died even though I didn't think he got injured that much?
Though I do agree with earlier reports that this Godzilla looks fat. 8/10

I quite like the fact that America was saved by an English man and a big monster! he He!!

I enjoyed this. Great sound effects which were really effective and really evoked what he did in Monsters (loved that film!). I really enjoyed this.

Really weird bunch of folk in Edinburgh tonight (the usual crowd excepted) including two pretty ancient blokes who turned up about 30 mins in, appeared to have no 3D glasses but stayed nonetheless?! Lots of little kids, well sort of 6ish.

Really glad there was not too much monster fighting as I'm sick fed up of giant fight scenes in American cities. It's been done so often these days it's become very very boring.

They gave this a fairly decent back story and it all worked well I thought.

A bit disappointing for me. There were some great moments, especially the initial set up and the early scene at the nuclear power plant corridor, but apart from Bryan Cranston the whole cast were fighting not just the monsters but the wafer thin characters they were given, Elizabeth Olsen and Sally Hawkins' talents especially were completely wasted.

The monster fights were impressive but frustrating early on when the camera kept cutting away or instead showing the action via background news footage.

It also felt had numerous plot holes, which undercut the drama for me near the end.

Beautiful but plodding, much like myself ;)

7/10....I'm sure that aficionados of the original Japanese b&w movies will be ecstatic with this...unfortunately I'm not one of them.

Saw this in Glasgow where evilzadi, sister and friend joined the Glasgow Fmukers in the back row.
I really enjoyed the film although I was a little confused when the first monster in the early part of the film was MUTO as I hadn't realised there was going to be another monster and began to think MUTO was Godzilla. I did think Godzilla was an oversized T-Rex so was a little surprised!
There was enough human interest story to bind the film together which I thought was rather good.
I was very surprised to see a number of young children at the film . . .I don't really think it was suitable for them and saw several upset as it was probably too scary. :tears: Godzilla does have a 12A rating but that doesn't mean it is suitable for kids under 12. Why do parents take their children without checking out the content first?
I would happily have pa*d to see this film.
Marks 8/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

My niece and I thought it was quite boring. I like Aaron TJ but thought the role wasn't suited to him or perhaps he just wasn't given enough lines to make a difference. He kind of just had one furrowed brow expression throughout. Elizabeth O reminds me of ET but did a better acting job than Aaron (with very few lines). Also it seems they didn't have enough budget to film/create 2 of the monster fight scenes as they were annoyingly cut out just when you think something more interestinng is going the happen.....!

4/10 :wall:
