I saw Earth to Echo this morning at the kids only screening at Empire Leicester Square, I'm not sure that many people turned up so they let the adults in to the screen. We were in screen 7 which must be the smallest screen I have ever been in, very cosy! The kids were given a box with popcorn, a sweet & a drink, the adults had drinks, sandwiches and crisps.

I am not sure they had thought the whole kids only thing through, had there not been spare seats for the parents there would have been no adult supervision at all and some of the kids were really small, but anyhow it all worked out OK.

Personally, I thought the film was OK, nothing special and wasn't that keen on the ending, but I had 4 kids with me, my 2 and a friend each all thought it was fantastic, they loved it, they are a similar age to the characters in the film so maybe that's it. My daughter says she gets the ending as her best friend moved 200 miles away, but they have managed to keep in contact and its all about your special bond and may not always be near to each other but they will now always have a special friendship wherever they are ..... wise old head on young shoulders!

.....both my kids have come in and said they will be staying at friends houses tonight....think I better double check!!

Whilst not a fan of shaky cam, it didn't bother me too much in this. I found the film rather charming and loved the moral about friendship.

I also liked the special effects which were clever and meant young children didn't have to have parents talking them through the plot.

Yes, there were holes in the actual plot but it kept my interest throughout. I found the little alien appealing too.

I was quite looking forward to seeing this as I thought it would be interesting to see how the hand held camera sub genre would work in a more family orientated flick. But although this film didn't do anything particularly wrong as such I still found it difficult to get drawn in by the events occurring on screen.

Maybe it was due to a lack of innovation story wise or relatively forgettable characters but as there wasn't anything particularly memorable/special about this movie it only gets a low 6/10 from me...
