Hi, I've got a huge problem with my SKy/TV. when I switch on, I get this message [bno signal check connected device's power cable connection and source selection][/b] as the TV is on the wall I was trying to jiggle the HDMI cable around and the the other end in the skybox. This has been getting worse and worse and now I can't get anything at all in HD 8O . anyone any ideas what the problem could be?

I'm thinking of getting an engineer in to sort out the whole of the wiring from the Skybox, Bluray and TV once and for all. Anyone got any idea how much the4se things could cost roughly in London?

thanks vx

I can't help you with advice or info re: London prices but have you considered checking out the local freecycle sites? Some of them have associate sites where recommended services are posted.

First off I would try using a different hdmi socket in the tv (if available) to see if the problem is the socket. If nothing works i'd want to try a different tv next, then the cable itself. The point is to isolate the problem to find out what needs fixing.
BTW hdmi is a digital connection so only the connectors themselves could do with any kind of gold plating to reduce corrosion on the contacts. Even then its not really necessary and the cables I b*ght from the pound shop have given outstanding service here for years. Don't be conned into forking out for expensive cables, they really are a rip off. You can b*y a 3m cable off ebay for £5.50 with gold plated connectors so its not really an expensive part.

Thanks Steve9872 I tried a different HDMI socket on the TV ( nearly dropped the TV in the process) but no change. I don't have another TV to try it on. The Skybox socket seems a bit wiggly so I wonder if it is that? I'll get a cheap cable tonight to see if that is the problem. Its only recently come on, so fingers crossed its the cable. vx

You have a Blu-ray box so take the cable out of the sky box and plug it in that and see if you have a signal from that. That will determine the most likely source of the problem.
