Death at a funeral

#1 Post by andrews » Fri Apr 30, 2010 6:56 pm

Directed by Neil LaBute, Death at a Funeral is a hilarious day in the life of an American family come together to put a beloved husband and father to rest. As mourners gather at the family home, shocking revelations, festering resentments, ugly threats, blackmail and a misdirected corpse unleash lethal and riotous mayhem.

Running Time: 90 minutes

Cast:Chris Rock, Danny Glover, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, James Marsden, Regina Hall, Peter Dinklage

Trailer: http://www.breakingentertainmentnews.co ... ler/888460

UK release date: 4th June

I saw this trailer last week, and thought: "slapstick comedy - lots of good gags, lots of dreadful-groan-out-loud gags." Might be worth a look if we've had a tough day at work and need a laugh or two.

Looks to be the same as the groan-a-minute original.

Gosh Ethan, you must have seen thousands of films. :D
I hadn't even remembered that there was an original. Are you studying film by any chance?

But of course, and side note, I remember sitting with my head in my hand in the cinema watching this.

The audience reaction is always so biased when they ply you with alchohol and nibbles before a screening and so it proved I think. People were laughing at most parts and clapped at the end. Some people might be just there for drinks, I saw a guy holding 5 bottles for himself walking into his seat by himself!
I liked the little scenarios played out in the film, but ultimately it's inconsequential and farcical and there are some really talented comedians in the lineup. This film was much slicker in production compared to Hot Tub Time Machine and it was funnier in a light farcical way. 7/10 for me but I would probably just wait for the DVD or when it's shown on TV.
