Dysfunctional weirdo played to a tee by Jake G.
This was creepy and slightly sinister in part. Well done and original.
Edinburgh was full this morning.
Boo hiss to the plonker and his girlfriend who came in as it was starting and tried to move 4people just so they could sit together. Well done to the woman in front of me who said no, sit down and shut up!

8/10 but font take your granny!

An excellent performance by Jake Gyllenhaal who seriously creeped me out even when he was being charming. I certainly would not have shared a car with Louis Bloom. I was also impressed by Riz Ahmed who seems to be progressing well across the water.
Brixton Ritzy was completely full and the film was definitely worthwhile getting up for. 8/10

There were projection problems at Clapham but the film eventually started late and it was worth the wait.

It was disturbing and shocking in equal measure but I could not look away. JG manages to pull of sinister and charismatic at the same time - an eerie combination. 8/10

I thought this was very good! Greenwich Picturehouse was full. A quick wave to Beate was all I could do today as I arrived later than usual!

Yeah they even turned people away. SFF oversuscribed it, hopefully those that got turned away were given vouchers as the usher was asking people to go down to talk to the manager to see what they could sort out.
We were made to wait until all the members with tickets had gone in, when we arrived there were 18 spare seats and by the time they let us in, just as the film was starting, there were just 5 dotted around.

Yes I saw you come in, waved to jojojoanne and cinefila1 and chatted to shmile who got the seat next to me as our neighbours left that seat empty - something I'll never understand. Greenwich was 100% full and the usher was very good in hunting down the last seats and showing people towards them.

The film was disturbingly good and quite shocking - I couldn't help but mumble "Bastard" under my breath once or twice. I did kind of anticipate the last twist however with his employee/assistant/Chief Executive Director guy. Even OH didn't fall asleep this time (he likes to snooze in the morning previews).

Saw this again in Manchester and it was just as good as the first time.

Glad I'd seen it already as there was an incredibly rude couple sat near us at the front, old enough to know better but acting like teenagers all the way through, talking and texting despite a polite request to keep it down. Honestly if my manners were this bad I'd stay in until they improved, I wish Lou Bloom had been sat near them, he wouldn't have stood for it.

OH still liked it, but probably not as much as me cos of the distractions.

Every single seat was taken at Clapham Picturehouse for the Nightcrawler. Then we were told that after the upgrade, they could not show any trailers, so they will start the film straight away, although they were having problems. It turns out it was that the screen was pink. They tried several times to start the film but the screen was still pink, and it took them half an hour to sort it out.

It was worth waiting for, luckily. What a tense and disturbing story. All the characters were played really well, Jake Gyllenhaal as the petty thief, developing into a really sick, deranged person, stopping at nothing to get what he wants. The TV news editor played by Rene Russo is a fair match to his character, ruthless and doing whatever it takes to keep her job. Jake's assistant was also good. I was mesmerised and on edge all the way through, and shocked. 8/10

Saw this at tonight's unlimited screening & was very impressed indeed.

Considering the sensationalist style of news reporting today, the events depicted in this movie seemed at best exaggerated and at worst right on the money.

Jake Gyllenhaal is excellent in the central role and performances from the likes of Rene Russo, Bill Paxton & Riz Ahmed are solid at the very least.

Definitely one of the best films that I've seen this year so it more than deserves a 9/10 from me.

P.S I'm reasonably confident that the Mexican restaurant scene will be regarded as something of a classic in the not too distant future ...

very engrossing topic, story and lead character. Best consumed not knowing what to expect, and I went into it thinking it was about streetracing ha. no, sire.

Jakey was good, though there were plenty of times when hes was obviously reading his lines from ample prompt cards.

Felt terrible for his poor intern. Couldn't he have just said "You're fired".

A somewhat uneasy movie in the sense that I question (and hope not) if this stuff actually happens for the sake of getting the big story.

As good as it was, it was very predictable how the story unfolded. Gyllenhaal was wickedly creepy though. One of the best performances I can recall from him.

Watched this at a largely empty Lee Valley last night. I must be cursed because I managed to be flanked from behind by a couple where the guy literally cannot chew with his mouth closed - the sound of some eating their food is enough to make me homicidal - and on my left by a group of women who turned up at 6.45pm and loudly said "IS THIS THE FILM THEN? HAS IT STARTED?"

No luv, it's a f***ing 15 minute trailer which just happens to look exactly like the film you've come to see!!!

These same women also lack the ability to whisper!!!

Rant over. Good film. 7/10
