How is it decided where free films get shown?

Do the cinemas request or bid in hope of being able to show the film in hope more people then come through word of mouth?

Or does the film company randomly select?

Why is this film not showing in my area
It is the film company’s decision as to where special previews are held and beyond our control. Usually films will be previewed in areas where the film will be playing once it has opened.
