Thanks biggins, I did check the offer with Platform 5 but they do not accept the voucher. It was one of the places I originally suggested as they have a private room, but someone posted that it was too far the other side of Edinburgh? I spoke to The Advocate and they said they could cordon off an area for us. The time I have booked is 12noon to 3.30pm. Could Diane65 indulge us and add the details of the meet up venue and time on the first post, so it is easy to find, if anyone wants a reminder! Thanks!biggins wrote:For anyone staying longer - I think prettyxcool is staying 4 nights - Platform5 which is opposite Haymarket station and next door to the Tune hotel is also a Belhaven pub which has the same offer but you would have to use a different email address to get the £5 off voucher as it is only one voucher per email address for the Belhaven pubs. http://www.platform5-edinburgh.co.uk/offers
The Advocate is a good pub and will be very busy on a Saturday. Have we a private room booked and what time are we meeting there - that is if you know yet?

There's plenty to go round, as no one else has asked! A free supper is not as popular as I thought!Diane65 wrote:Thanks MrGlass what a brilliant article and now we have the meet up place we can work around this. I really want to see the Botanical gardens but fitting that in when it's right over the other side might be tricky but Dunbar's Close will satisfy my need to see a garden wherever I go. There is so much to see that it's deciding what we can fit in and enjoy. I could do a few options of itineraries and whoever wants to do what is fine.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:Some lovely free places to visit in this Guardian article if of any use to our hosts and away team organisers :)

Re: FMUKCON 28th March 2015 - Edinburgh
Wonder why Platform5 is not accepting it if the Advocate is? I have already used a voucher at Platform5 a few weeks ago and the Hampton hotel which is opposite the Murrayfield stadium is also a Belhaven pub. They had the same offer which I also joined up and used but had to join with different email address to get the voucher.prettyxcool wrote:Thanks biggins, I did check the offer with Platform 5 but they do not accept the voucher. Pleased to hear they are cordoning off a area for us as the bar area at the Advocate is not very big.

Re: FMUKCON 28th March 2015 - Edinburgh
Stayed yesterday and today in North Berwick so cold my eyes kept watering with the freezing cold wind. Only people walking their dog were brave enough to walk along the beach. Big white foam waves which are lovely to look at but we were glad to get into our cosy hotel room and have a hot drink. The shops in
North Berwick were mostly closed too. Hope for better weather for you all coming in March.
When I read through all the places you have listed here to visit while in Edinburgh it makes me realise how lucky we are to have so much to see right here on our doorstep. I take it for granted how many tourist attractions we have.

You can also do the same if anyone fancies Camera Obscura at the top of the Royal Mile.prettyxcool wrote:For those who are interested in the Royal Yacht Britannia visit - you can exchange:

I love that Camera Obscura, especially to see spy on the people on the streets in that funky and STILL futuristic holographic display. So funky and most timea i had come up to Edinburgh i couldbt resist going in there :)Yinster wrote:You can also do the same if anyone fancies Camera Obscura at the top of the Royal Mile.prettyxcool wrote:For those who are interested in the Royal Yacht Britannia visit - you can exchange:

On a different note in case people from Englandshire don't know if you fancy shopping for anything up here if you need a carrier bag then the stores will charge you 5p per bag no matter how big the bag. So pack up some totes or bags for life with you.
