Re: Weight Watchers
Well done Clarebarr that is just amazing. I'm an outsider as I don't like teas of any description I'm very much a black coffee girl. I don't think that I will be losing any friends from being smug and keeping my diet tips to myself its due to the lack of dieting and exercising

Re: Weight Watchers
First off, special congratulations to ClareBarr for that fantastic weight loss.
You must be so pleased with that great result. Keep up the good work.
Sorry to hear that your ankle is not fully recovered yet Asamaic but hey your weight loss since Christmas is pretty darned impressive.
Sounds like you are doing great work with the tea Distortthecode. Good luck with your weigh-in.
Good luck for your weigh-in today too Diane.
I don't know about you, my dear, but I'm finding it much harder to be good this time around than when we both lost all that weight a couple of years ago
I'm continually eating inappropriate things, especially just before bedtime.
I need to get properly back on track and start being sensible again.
That said, I've somehow lost another pound this week so I'm quite happy today even though I know I could be lots better.
Try and be good everyone. If you do overindulge one day, just write that day off and start to be good again the next day. See if you can fit a 20 minute walk in each day.

Re: Weight Watchers
Well done on that 1 lb weight loss, Preston and imagine what you will lose when the midnight snacks are a thing of the past!
ClareBarr has done so well and Asamaic seems to be on top of things in spite of her bad ankle. I should learn from you all but I indulged in the very LAST voucher from John Lewis yesterday but felt I deserved it after rather a bad few days of hospital appointments and general building hassle with next door -- I am tired of being woken up at ungodly hours with skip removals. Of course said neighbours have decamped for the duration (which looks like it will be at least 6 months but probably more) leaving their neighbours to put up with the noise--then again, we don't matter to them!
I am one of the few people on earth who is not a tea drinker which I chalk up to being an American, so a coffee drinker but never have any sugar and only semi skim milk but Distortthecode is certainly making up for my lack of tea consumption and all at no calories.
Hoping that Diane and Andrews are both doing well. Always good to hear everyone's news!

Re: Weight Watchers
Well done Preston1990 that is just brilliant
I'm finding it harder this time around and not lost anything. Really really need to get in the zone but I'm finding I'm busier than ever so snacking but I was alright for the first week in January so proof that it is just me not getting organised.
Ejwrank you did need that John Lewis cake as you have the builders being a pain so need a treat
Note to self must try harder as if I had been good I could have lost about 6lbs by now.

Re: Weight Watchers
Alright, what have you all been up to? It's gone quiet again!
I'm pleased to say that I have lost just over half a stone since Christmas (8lb and change) and I am officially healthy again, weight wise.
Oh, and hell-month is over (yes, that's what us accountants call it) so I can go back to the theatre and zip around London like a mad woman again!
I've been doing as much walking as my ankle will take - still can't run, but I think I should be up to going back to the gym in the next few weeks. I know I keep saying that, but I think it's true this time. I've been able to walk further and for longer, so I am building up strength there. I can't believe how one stupid jaunt through a field has had such a long-lasting impact.
Sounds really basic, but I can now stand on the tube ok (when you're off the crutches and just have a bandage or ankle support on, no one can see you're in pain and being British, you don't want to ask for a seat!) and wear heels in business meetings (although I don't wear them all day). Such pathetic accomplishments, but they feel like really big victories...
I drink tea and coffee all the time - never any milk or sugar. If I do have milk, it's somewhat of a treat - I've saved quite a few calories over the past year by swapping my cappuccino for a black coffee. I find drinking water a bit of a chore sometimes, but I'm so British I'll never say no to a cuppa, so that's the easiest way of staying hydrated and not eating out of phantom hunger. It's stupid, but you can genuinely mistake being thirsty for being hungry, and that does sabotage the healthy eating.
My fad of the moment is WW Caramel Wafers (78 calories or thereabouts). They're absolutely yummy, and don't taste like diet food.
I've been operating on a calories in < calories out basis, which is simple, but works. The next challenge is to not only eat the right amount of calories for my height and frame, but to start eating better calories. More fruit and veg are called for...
Hope you're all having a fun and healthy weekend!

Re: Weight Watchers
Hello all, well done to ClareBarr, Preston and Asamaic on your achievements. I really must get motivated. I had to be weighed by a doctor I had seen a year ago - put on half a stone
It could have been worse I suppose but have tried to get around more since Christmas. Still on the crutches when out - thoroughly agree with Asamaic, that people are much more sympathetic when they see the crutches.
My physio has told me about a local charity that has a warm 'walk in' pool so will be investigating using that. I need to lose those calories
Good luck everyone

Re: Weight Watchers
Hi everyone, thanks for all the messages of congratulations for my last weeks one pound loss. This week I haven't lost anything but at least I haven't put anything on either, I've just maintained. I'm finding it quite hard to believe that in 5 weeks I have only lost 3 pounds. Never mind I'm going to redouble my efforts this coming week and see if I can lose at least another 2.
You have my sympathy re your hospital visits and the builders next door ejwrank. I have some recent experience of both those things ejwrank and they can be very stressful. My own stress levels peaked yesterday when during my cataract removal operation I heard my eye surgeon ask his assistant to pass him the "darning hook"
Wouldn't you think they could find a less emotive term for it? If he'd called it a "blinding spike" I couldn't have been more scared
To give the guy his dues though he's done a cracking job
I'm liking the sound of that warm walk in pool baty - could be just the thing on these cold wintery days.
I love caramel wafers too Asamaic. Unfortunately it's the Tunnocks ones that I like and they come in at 122 cals
Good luck for those of you still doing weigh-ins
We seem to have lost a few on the Slippery Slip

Re: Weight Watchers
I went to see the centre today, not quite a walkin in pool, I would have to use the hoist....oh well. Main thing is that I could get some exercise and also access to the therapies they do there. Going to look into the self hypnosis for sleeping. Everyone I met was very friendly. So going on Tuesday morning.
Preston, I shuddered at reading about your operation, the thought of having anything/one touching my eyes would have me screaming.
Have added more veg/salad to my diet and have cut out my evening glass of wine, well at least on weekdays, just picked the wrong month to make it a dry one. Especially with the start of the six nations starting Friday.

Re: Weight Watchers
Glad the operation went well in spite of the surgeon's terminology, Preston. I'm guessing you will notice the clarity and more vivid colours -- hope that food doesn't look even more appetising. I think that maintaining your weight is a good thing and 3 pounds off in 5 weeks is going in the right direction, especially as it is winter and a time when everyone feels like hibernating instead of exercising.
Glad to hear that your ankle is on the mend, asamaic. But don't overdo it -- small steps. Glad that work is less hectic for you after the long days of January.
Good luck with the centre, baty and hope that you can get some gentle exercise there. And just think how much better your weekend wine treat will be -- especially after a Wales victory!
