It's the coldest day today (as low as -20) in Minnesota but that doesn't stop these guys and gals from going out.

I just spend all day at the hospital visiting my brother's mum-in-law who was taken into intensive care overnight. She is in critical condition, her heart stopped twice overnight, and we won't know how things are for another 24 hours. So sad, as it is today, the first anniversary of my mum passing, and it felt like deja vu, when I woke up this morning, again I was having a lie-in, like last year, and there were so many urgent missed calls. We are a very close knit family, so today has been a really distressing day.

Aw I'm so sorry to hear this sad news, pxc, particularly given the date. Hopefully she will recover from this critical illness and, if not, at least the family will have had some time to say goodbye. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Thank you so much everyone. Nanny is still critical and in intensive care. However, she is responding to medication and is off the dialysis and is breathing unaided, so it looks promising although it is baby steps, and not out of the woods yet as scan has shown fluid in her lungs now. We are praying she will keep fighting.

Nanny passed away on Tuesday. We are all very upset and it is heartbreaking. She was such a great grandmother, mother and friend, a wonderful person all round. The Wake is next Wednesday.
