The Yorkies were out in force last night at the Leeds Showcase, and together, we probably had the row with most people! (Good to see PeteYork and allsinging, who I had not seen for a while, and Steve9872 who I've seen three times this week already!)

As Steve has said, it was pathetically empty, and in one of the largest screens. Usually, there are queues out the door for screenings at the Showcase, but allsinging pointed out that the 7.00 p.m. start was actually a bit late for some of the audience, and maybe this put some people off.

I like watching something 'mindless' and relaxing from time to time, and the music and dance was just that, coupled with the Mills and Boon classic storyline
(boy meets girl, hate on sight, then end up together)
.

On a couple of occasions I could see why people are now getting so-o-o excited about this 3D technology now, whereas before it had always seemed a bit of a gimmick to me.

I saw this last night in Charlotte Street hotel with SimonV and his OH. Was great to meet them properly and thanks guys for taking me along with you.
I enjoyed the movie for what as…it wasn’t anything ground breaking but it was enjoyable. I must admit I am a sucker for dance movies (always wanted to be a dancer  )…I have to agree with Ucakpam though, ive seen much better dance routines on ‘Randy Jackson Presents: America's Best Dance Crew’…6/10

Kind of agree with them especially on the wish to be a dancer (don't think ever will!!! ;) ) I also find the lead actress was just OK. And the final dance I think the Surge was very powerful but the Breaking Point was just different, not much of Umpphhh. May be it just me. overall, cause I love dance movie it's a 6/10 from me too.

But I'm more excited about the location, the Charlotte Street Hotel. I've never been in the private screening room, it's cosy and very welcoming and the 3D was better than I expected. I came quite early and we were excited of taking photos,so, someone might remember which one was me (and my friends) huh!!! :p But my hubby did complain about the heavy small-width 3D glass (cause he wears a spectables). Ohhh another thing, pls don't book the ticks if you not gonna turn up. It's kind of sad to see so many empty seats and cause others that really wanna go to miss the movies!!! :nono:

It's good to see a British film doing so well:

Streetdance 3D has beaten Hollywood blockbuster Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time to top the UK Box Office.

The British dance flick, which is the UK's first 3D dance movie took between £1.79 million in its opening weekend, trouncing Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia which made just £1.37 million.

Streetdance 3D, which features Britain's Got Talent winners George Sampson and Diversity was shown in less cinemas than its blockbuster rival but still managed to claim the number 1 spot.

James Richardson, who produced Streetdance said of the film: "The success of StreetDance 3D has far exceeded our expectations. The fact that an independent British film has beaten the US heavyweights just shows how well Streetdance 3D has connected with audiences across the country."

Russell Crowe's Robin Hood fell to to third place with former number 1, Iron Man 2 claiming fourth position.

Bollywood production Kites was the third highest new entry, completing the top 5 UK films.

dance flicks are great at a cinema that does justice to the soundtrack. this was all about the choerography, and it was good. Nicola got a bit burleysque lol for the younger kids though, regularly getting dressed on camera.
Surge definitely mashed Breaking Point, but I have to say that I loved the classical music / dance fusion music.

finally...they shot themselves in the foot by showing the trailer for Step Up 3D before the film - the 3d and dance in that looked more 3d and more fun.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I wonder when are they going to open this in the States? Surely they should open this before Step Up 3D if they want to make some money.

Watched this last night at Odeon Greenwich with two passes I had. They've now put up a policy which states that if you are exchanging vouchers, these are not valid for 3D, Premier Seating and Gallery seating. When I went to get my tickets, I was told "I think these are not valid for 3D" to which I said "I think they are." I informed her that unless they explicitly mention this on the back of the ticket which only stated not valid for premier and gallery, they cannot stop me from using it for 3D. I also reminded her there are many versions and where it isn't valid for 3D, Odeon definitely do state so. She didn't argue and issued the ticket.

Anyway, got a nice big screen but as usual with normally annoying teenagers. I wasn't too impressed with the movie. I like dance movies as well (don't worry milkchocy, I wish I was a dancer too ) but this one was bland (and shouldn't have been the first 3D dance movie). The storyline was seriously boring and jumped about abit with the relationship between Carly and Jay and then finally getting to the end where they realised they should actually mix ballet and streetdance together! (Carly really was a daft character!). The dance acts were good. I didn't like the music too much - could have used a better selection and I didn't think the dance acts stood out alot in 3D either. I saw the trailer for Step Up 3D and that actually looked so much better. Film was slow to start with the storyline with a quick ending. I expected better.

6/10 from me and that's merely for the dancing although I have seen better street dances.
