stuartboy wrote:I thought this was fun, even if it was a little XX chromosome orientated. Ok it was far from original, but I was really impressed with the scripting. Mr Arthur the teacher was really funny. The two leads were great as well, although I couldn't help thinking that this was Stacey Slater (eastenders) meets Tom Cruise's wee brother! I knew he was familiar and I knew he wasn't Zac Effron, but otherwise couldn't place him. I agree though that the Stacey girl was neither fat nor ugly, before not after, so didn't really get that bit. My biggest regret was that I was plagued by micro sleep during this. Not because it was dull or boring. I must have been shattered and was watching a late showing. It did therefore make a difference that I had seen the trailer several times. Meant that it made more sense with the bits I "missed".
6/10
Think I would like to see this again, while I'm conscious! Lol
Ps. Did anyone watching the closing credits sequences notice the "McG" written onscreen? I had to titter.
I spotted that! The outtakes at the end were quite funny.
It reminded me quite a lot of Pretty in Pink updated. I agree it was well scripted and acted snd funny. No did have a bit trouble comprehending that Wes was supposed to be 17 or 18 though. More like 26!
Good fluff fun.
7/10 from me

We seen this last night too. Cinema was about 5% full.....very empty.
And being a 30 something male thought it was going to be a car crash but I actually really enjoyed it. Yes it was very predicatable and yes the ugly fat riend was neither fat nor ugly but you know the format of these films and you know how things are going to end up.
We laughed through it and to be honest after work all i want to do is tune out and watch a film i dont have to think about. This was perfect.

I saw the McG credit and rushed out to check it on IMDb.
That lad could definitely play Tom Cruise's brother in another film. Amazing resemblance.

Thought the whole point was that the DUFF didn't necessarily have to be "ugly" or "fat" just less attractive than his/her friends.

I noticed the McG in the credits and thought of her, more relevant now after recent FMUK meet at Edinburgh.
I enjoyed this I couldnt believe the size of screen they put us in at Manchester Lowry, the biggest screen they had which was nowhere near full. I recognised the male lead as I have seen him in both Tomorrow People and Flash.
I would give 7.5/10 as I did enjoy.

I thought the movie was aimed at teenagers. It was very predictable. And agree the female lead was like Stacey Slater. The guy Wes was no way a teen.
I don't think their relationship would last very long. It did have a few comic moments.
Not as good as Easy A.

This was not Duff, its an ok movie, mostly down to its sassy lead, who was actually the only interesting girl in the movie, so she wasn't duff either, though she acts a bit too hyper in her effort to appear "teen" and she almost appears desperate to hog all the coolest script lines. That's not a putdown on "Bianca", in fact its a shame that more girls aren't like this in real life. Another American "teen" flick set in a school mysteriously populated by near 30somethings, but with enough fun and wit to make it something more than the usual despite the incredibly predictable ending, and to be fair, the carcrash title.
a "15 year old" complaining of having duff car (the cars fine) was a bit duff. A car at 15!!
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

The message of the movie wasn't bad at all - I could point out numerous ridiculous bits and plotholes, but I'm saying this as a late 20 something adult. As a teenager, I would have found it close to the bone and I think the target audience would really enjoy it.
