I probably shouldn't say this, but lokking at it made me laugh, as it was a cross between a wheelbarrow and a deck chair. An able-bodied person would feel pain in that!

Can I add my sympathy, ClareBarr, the trauma and pain you have been through. I wish I had a solution to this but I fear there isn't one. I guess the staff felt they were doing the proper thing in getting you into the chair, which I agree looks like a torturous way to be transported. You must, when you feel up to it, notify the manager and head office of the cinema so that they know what you have been through and hopefully they will be able to improve things in the future.

In the meantime, I very much hope you will soon be recovered and that this will not put you off going out when you feel able. Sending you my best wishes.

Thank you very much, ejwrank. You are all very kind. A group of friends of mine offered me a lift today to meet them out for lunch, & even drive me there & back, but I'm just not up to it. Been feeling a bit sorry for myself today so it's been lovely to come on here & chat with people! x

Well, I sent my letter off this morning. It'll be interesting to see their response. I ended up not being able to go out for 13 days after it happened!

Only just catching up on this. So sorry to hear about your experience ClareBarr that must have been hideous for you. It's such a difficult one as if it was a real fire it would have saved your life. This might be one that needs to be looked at by the fire service as in a real situation you might not have been the only disabled person in the building. The pain you must have gone through must have been dreadful and also the person having to bump you down the stairs could have injured their back too. It's obviously something that needs to be addressed.
I never understand why an ambulance has a van chassis rather than a car as must be so bumpy.
Take care ClareBarr x

Received a reply letter from Vue head office, with an apology & some free cinema tickets. Also I went along to grants to find out their procedure for me from now on - so I feel a bit better now about returning there, now I know I won't have to use that awful chair again!!

That's great news Clare and I'm so glad you took my advice and found out about their procedure. It really does reassure, doesn't it?

It definitely does! Thanks again for your advice. I was actually scared to go back there! But I'm pleased I went as I would miss it so much if I didn't go to the cinema! x
