Re: Prometheus
Finally saw this tonight. Has to make a 75 mile round trip to do so though. Saw it at the McRobert centre at Stirling Uni - lovely cinema and nice cafe. Actually made for a nice day out.
Jury is out on the film. The old dear behind us who was giving a running commentary really enjoyed it and apparently it cleared a lot of things in her mind going forward to Alien! Actually, OH agreed with her. I'm swithering, not sure if I enjoyed it or not.

Eeek! McRobert Centre? Sounds like this is a film best enjoyed in IMAX format with all the bells and whistles.alythonian wrote:Finally saw this tonight. Although reviews above leave me equivocal....

Re: Prometheus
saw this for the 1st time last night, didn't think much of the movie, it really didn't add anything to the Alien/Predator story, and possibly distorted to original notion of the Aliens.
Re: Prometheus
When watching these movies in the holistic, chronological sense, it would be wise to exclude any of them containing the word "predator".

Re: Prometheus
Was nice to see Michael Fassbender get a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for Prometheus from the London Critics Circle.
The movie may have split opinions but I though Fassbender was terrific in the film. Also a nice surprise to see a nomination for a science fiction film.

Re: Prometheus
It's not a to bad a film to watch.
Re: Prometheus
Shit. Shit. Shit!
Not the film - the fact that I've not only just finished watching this on TV, having rushed home to manage to catch it, but the fact that not 20 minutes after it finished I discover the still sealed DVD that I b*ght and must have forgot about owning so never watched (in the same hmv bag as Angel's Share - a film where exactly the same happened to me not 6 months ago!) Gah!
Having just been to a free screening of Alien just a few days ago, I really enjoyed this spectacle of a movie with some wonderful set pieces and plenty of homage to the franchise. My main gripe was the old man - Guy Pearce. Surely they could have found an aged actor with the same abilities as Pearce without having to resort to some really shonky make-up. Was always going to be hard making the technology - ship's controls, weapons etc. not look to up-to-date and thus dating the original Alien too much considering this is set several years earlier than Alien.
Didn't disappoint.
