Eden
Back from seeing this tonight. An overlong film about a struggling DJ through the Paris rave scene, sex and drugs and mounting debts, Felt very long, as too much repetition, especially with the party scenes, just dragged on and on. Really boring. Probably, I just did not like garage music. 4/10
It did not help that the Shapes warehouse, right next to Hackney Wick station, where the screening took place was too hot, and the seating was so uncomfortable. Also the film started an hour late while people queued up for the one burger stand, which was cooked fresh and to order.
Security was terrible. I had a water bottle of boiled water, and I have never been refused entry carrying that, but it was either drink it or tip it out. What if you had a dietary requirement that you could only drink distilled water, because of tap and bottled water allergies. Not impressed!

Re: Eden
Saw this at picturehouse central this morning. Wasn't too impressed I'm not really into garage music and thought the main story wasn't enough to maintain my interest. Also thought the film was too long at just over 2 hours. Can't complain too much at least it's comfortable at picturehouse sounds like prettyxcool had a really uncomfortable time.

Re: Eden
What the bloody hell was the point of that claptrap?
There was barely anything of a story going on. Just repetition. Just repetition. Just repetition. Thank goodness for the annotation of passage of years which was a diversion from the repetition. I cannot believe this wasted almost 2 1/2 hours of a rather nice summer Sunday. Hey - the music was not too bad, but the scenes of DJing and snorting Coke over and over again?
No idea who any of the characters were or what their names were. We are told of a death at some point in the film yet I have no idea who it was.
Hard to decipher who is saying what with subtitles and so many scenes in dingy settings do you can't actually see who spoke either.
So. No real beginning, middle or end. I was so disappointed to see "Part 2" come up on screen, long after I'd hoped it would have finished and gone away.
Almost as bad as that odious Nick Cave nonsense.
2/10 (both points for the music)

Re: Eden
Reviews are accurate but I still enjoyed it as a slice of a different life and culture although the ending did let it down a bit.
Had zero expectations, only saw the poster when booking the tickets and the word 'rave'.

Don't think I've ever seen such a mass exodus of cancelled tickets. Sadly I hadn't the foresight....
