Hated the amount of time we had to wait just for the red carpet which was ridiculous and they were recycling the red carpet footage, why did they make the time earlier when it just meant you were sat in there for over an hour and half before the film started

Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
Loved the film, lived up to expectations and some great effects, loved Simon Pegg as usual 9/10. I agree was a bonus being in the Imax in Manchester, lots of empty seats, but not seats I would want to sit in as best view from middle seats where the majority sat, would have hated to be in the front rows.

Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
Totally agree with akh43! I got really fed up with the red carpet footage, especially on repeat, although I did enjoy the Q & A. I really enjoyed the film and thought Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg were very good together on screen though also seemed to have a great relationship during the Q& A.
Loved the added bonus of glass of Prosecco or Tropicana juice to take in to screening room and the small red carpet they had rolled out at the entrance.
Screening was not as busy as I thought it would be in Braehead but a touch of summer had briefly appeared today so maybe folk were trying to make the most of going outdoors today.
I was never bored at all during the film and loved the humour.

Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
Definitely have a touch of numbumitis after an hour drive to get there then sitting for a further 3 hours then another hour driving home.
I did think the film was overlong and I was starting to fidget. Probably due to that very overlong red carpet thing which was so repetitive and informed very little.
Apparantly Scientology Cruise did all his own stunts. I doubt it. That car he was in did at least 4 or 5 forward rolls before landing on its roof. And can he really hold his breath that long? Why make statement that are clearly nonsense.
Never mind being MI:5. This should have been BMW:5. There are other brands of car you know.
Didn't understand why they said they'd spent a year and a half filming in London. The capital didn't feature at all until the last quarter or so, and even then it was just a few gratuitous tourist scenes to illustrate to dopey Americans where they were.
Boy do I dislike the actor that played the baddie. He gives me the serious creeps. I didn't recognise his face, but that voice! That is the voice of a psychopathic murderer if ever I heard it. Really does creep me out.
7/10
Oh. No one told me the free drinks were for all. I saw the table set up but presumed that as there were several different outfits giving tickets, including company winners, that they weren't for us. Boo.

Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
Had such a fun day with snow white yesterday (thanks snow white!).
Both me and snow white arrived early at BFI IMAX for wristbands to get into the fan pen and a chance to win tickets - although everyone next to us won, who I deliberately befriended to be their guests as the T&C's says :
18. Each Winner will be entitled to a maximum of two Screening Wristbands for (i) the
Winner and (ii) a companion who is also present at the Venue when the Prize is
announced.
But the rules changed during the live draw at 5pm - only one ticket, and no plus ones, boo!
So we stood from 2.30pm to get a good view of the red carpet, and as it was a pleasant day, we had a lot of fun, chatting and taking photos. There were a lot of spot prizes being given out of T-shirts and headsets. So the time went pretty quickly.
Finally, Tom arrived around 6ish, and after his brief interviews with the press, he came to all the fans, and I mean all. His PR people which there were three took everyone's cameras, phones etc and took the photos for us, probably to speed up the process, while he signed autograph after autograph, posed and chatted! I told him I met him at the Jack Reacher event and he replied smiling "... hmm...Jack Reacher..." trying to remember. It was obvious he did not remember me though!
Then disappointed as we had not won the prize draw, we left after the red carpet finished, and tried our luck to see the screening and, thanks to ritamistry's text, who was lucky enough to be inside already meeting Tom, as a plus one (well done elski for winning tickets, as they have been quite hard to win!), I managed to blag two tickets for me and snow white, to see the screening. haha.
The film was absolutely brilliant, as I expected. Loved Simon Pegg and the humour. It was not as tense or gripping as other action films I have recently seen so 8/10
A full to the brim goody bag with Popchips, Portlebay Popcorn, Taking the Pea crunchy peas, M&M chocs, bottle of water and mini posters - well full as I managed to swipe more on the way out, and empty packets to get the Sweet Sundays codes!

Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
I am sure all stunts are done in stages, probably many shots to get it right, using all sorts of wires to make it rollover, and then digitally removed, and special effects. I read somewhere that healthy people are able to hold their breath for about 2 minutes and longer with practice. So he may have done, but the scene could have been done several shots for him to come up for air? You could, of course be right, he could be lying!stuartboy wrote: Apparantly Scientology Cruise did all his own stunts. I doubt it. Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
Must be the only person who thought this was sub par :/
Might have something to do with the premiere footage faff beforehand.
We were told that no one was being let in past 6.45 cause the film was going to start at 7.
My friend was already there but wouldnt let her in, I was running late because I was coming all the way from Wolverhampton. Ended up getting to the cinema at 6.40, only to be let in, then fed premiere footage at 7.15, and they were STILL letting people in after threatening to not let me and my friend in after 6.45.
I got up and went to the toilet 3 times just for something to do, I got questioned by the security guard as a result and told him as much "we were told the film started at 7pm not this crap, I have to be home before 10pm cause I have work tomorrow"
Simon Pegg saved the Q&A panel, there were a lot of questions and answers I'd heard before on other Q&A panels with completely different characters and for a completely different film.
As for the film, standard MI film, action was good, plot was a little longwinded, and they clearly spent all their budget on the explosions and actor fees if that atrocious car crash was anything to go by. I think it actually topped the one in In Time.

Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
The red carpet and pre-screening interviews went on for a bit too long I though. Almost an hour of that before the actual screening.
While some of the interviews were interesting, there was a lot of repetition from some and thought Eddie Izzard rambled on a bit more that he should have. The pre-screening interviews should have been after the screening as there were some spoilers in there...
As for the movie, thought it was good fun without being too complicated. Wasn't expecting anything ground-breaking although some of the action sequences were pretty good. Would have probably pa*d/used a voucher to go see this had it not been for the preview screening so all in all, a good day out.

Re: MI5 Rogue Nation
Saw this today with a voucher. Enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
The opening scene had me in stitches. Simon Pegg is really a highlight.
I loved all the slick, non-stop action but there is no way Tom Cruise could have done all these stunts himself. They wouldn't let him. He's a very valuable filmstar, and these stunts are dangerous.
It took me a little while to place the woman until I realised she was the White Queen.
Very entertaining if you don't think too much about the plot.
