Re: Weight Watchers
Ok it's day one for me after a long absence from the ww thread.
I've put a tremendous amount of weight on since I was last exercising and eating healthily. Hopefully though, I can make some better food choices and restart some gentle exercising to get my weight down and fitness levels up.
I'm going to get weighed and bring my weight loss ticker thing back up to date to get an idea of the size of the task ahead. It's going to be a long and arduous journey back to were I was, but I'm determined to make a start now.
Porridge with skimmed milk for breakfast today.
Big crunchy salad with tuna and boiled egg for lunch.
Evening meal - not sure yet!
From today, I'm changing my sometimes twice daily cappuccinos to black coffees. I'll also be completely cutting out the huge slabs of bread and cheese and chocolate biscuits that I have being snacking on at all times of the day in moments of boredom.
My overgrown and neglected garden is now my gym.

Re: Weight Watchers
Welcome back Preston1990 and ClareBarr lovely to have company of my old friends. Asamaic you have been keeping this thread going
So sorry to hear about your back problems Preston1990 but we will all get there together again. I am all mouth and no action at the moment so have just been on a 2 mile walk tonight. My trip to Windermere didn't involve much walking as we spend time chatting on a boat and then on a steam train (I had always wanted to go on one
).
I need to start like yourself Preston1990 writing down my meals and as asamaic says seeing it makes it real. I love your long posts TheyCallMeMrGlass as they make me feel like I'm being given a well deserved lecture
. Bossy is good Ejwrank and I too tend to have that trait.
I will get some menus planned and we will all be gorgeous in next to no time
(No doubt MrGlass will be on my case re doing things too quickly but I mean it as in healthy eating and loads of water makes your skin glow).
Let's bring it on and we can all do it together

Re: Weight Watchers
Well done Diane for your 2 mile walk :)
I used to take photos on my phone of everything I ate in a day, then look back over the photos before I went to bed to see if I could improve it the next day. It seemed to work for me so I might go back to that.

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks for the "Welcome Back" messages ClareBarr and Diane65.
It really is great to be back here among like minded friends once again.
In a way it's kind of comforting to know that I'm not the only one who has fallen foul of the "Slippery Slip". It seems like there's quite a few of us who need to pick up on the healthy eating and exercise front once again to regain our sylphlike figures.
There's safety in numbers though, and as the mega-positive Diane would say "We've done this before and we'll do it again....we'll be so trim and toned"
I'm aiming for around a half stone a month loss or about 1.5 pounds a week
In 8 short months
or so (April 2016?) I'll be hoping to have a BMI of 25 i.e. in the upper level of the "normal" BMI weight range.
I've no doubt it will be very tough going for me but it's always good to have an ambitious target to aim for, and by publicly stating it here, the embarrassment factor on fail alone should spur me on to try that little bit harder.
OK - enough of that....
I was quite pleased overall with my food intake yesterday. I ended up having a greek side salad and a big bowl of chicken jambalaya soup (284 kcal and 298 kcal respectively) for my two
evening meals yesterday.
But I'm still happy with that compared to what I have been eating recently. And....I chose a black coffee rather than my usual cappuccino yesterday at the local supermarket.
I also managed a very exhausting hedge pruning and clipping bagging session of about an hour in my outdoor gym yesterday.
That alone must have burnt off a fair few calories.
Todays Menu:
Breakfast: Two weetabix with semi-skimmed milk. Pot of earl grey tea (no milk). - 280 kcal
Lunch: Pre-packed Greek side salad (yes another one - I b*ght quite a few yesterday as they were reduced down to 55p from £3 - and those that know me will know that I love a bargain
) - 284 kcal
Evening Meal One: Waitrose chicken & vegetable broth - 272kcal
Evening Meal Two: I'll have a spoach around in the fridge and freezer later and come up with something.
Today's Exercise: Back in the garden to get some more enjoyment from my hedge
Well done on the 2 mile walk Diane and great idea re the meal photographs ClareBarr
Try and be good everyone, drink lots of water, eat lots of vegetables, go for a walk.

Re: Weight Watchers
It gave me a lovely warm feeling reading all these positive posts from my fabulous friends. I will be going for another walk this evening and already drinking lots of water. I will be b*ying a few healthy living meals to get me back in the zone - I know that they are not as good as home cooking. I too want to lose 7lbs a month so will be ready for Christmas as already got my first Christmas party invite. Friday will be my treat night as have friend's (Manchester gang and Steve the Snitch will tell on me
) coming around for coffee and cakes.
Happy gardening Preston1990

Re: Weight Watchers
If you google "15 healthy snacks with 100 calories or fewer", there are a lot of good links. My fave is a small glass with natural yoghurt & a spoon of honey (a nice late night snack).

Re: Weight Watchers
That sounds like my type of snack. I'm ashamed to say I had a glass of Baileys and mint choc chip ice cream as celebrating good news but today will be good.ClareBarr wrote:If you google "15 healthy snacks with 100 calories or fewer", there are a lot of good links. Menu of the day:
Raspberry and banana milkshake
Ham salad sandwich with a donut peach.
Poached egg on toast
As I write this I can already see the lack of vegetables so will improve tomorrow.
Have a fun day everyone

Re: Weight Watchers
Your menu for today sounds yummy Diane, but are you sure that's enough food for the one day? Make sure you have some (healthy) snacks, too.
A nice refreshing drink to start the day: put into a mug a slice of lemon, lime, a few sprigs of fresh mint, & a teaspoon of honey, fill with boiling water. I'm having mine now :)

Haha, there's nothing quite like a spot of friendly, good-natured competition to focus the mind on the task ahead. My weekly weighdays will be on Monday mornings if anyone else would care to join me.Diane65 wrote:......I too want to lose 7lbs a month .....

Lunch: Pre-packed Greek side salad deconstructed (with feta cheese and oil dressing removed) additional celery, peppers, vine tomatoes, cucumber, beetroot, spring onion, half can of tinned tuna and a couple of big spoonfuls of mild tomato salsa over the top for flavour. Kcal

Evening Meal One: pack of instant chicken noodles with a quarter of a head of chopped up steamed broccoli.
Evening Meal Two: I'll be checking out ClareBarr's "healthy less than 100 cal snacks" and having something from there. Looking forward to choosing something yummy

Back in the garden today for round three of Preston versus the hedge

I hope that ice cream and Bailey's tasted good Diane.

I also hope your gashed leg is feeling much better now asamaic.

Be good everyone.
