We went to see close to you yesterday.
Picked up our tickets about 5.30. And managed to get seats on the sofas on stage. Was great experience being right in the middle of everything and our sofa was so comfy (stage right f1 and f2)

Show was done really well more of a gig, no story but great new versions of burt's songs.
Would happily go again if get the chance.

I saw this twice at the Menier before it's transfer and am hoping to see it again at the Criterion. Great to know that they still have sofa seats, I do wonder how much of the intimacy they have managed to retain in a traditional West End theatre. It's not a musical i.e. no story but very highly recommended for the music and the staging.

its pleasant so far, though could do with a story to make it coherent (the songs have the feel of stories in them). The BB songbook isnt as strong as the Beatles one which can be played standalone. Performances are very good. Faster songs are best, the luvvlydovey stuff is a bit cringey lol.

must run for 2nd half.

Wheres the sofas.

The sofas are on the stage. About 10 seats either side o/
Very different perspective of the show

I was underwhelmed by Close to You. The ensemble are clearly talented, but the whole thing felt very... safe.

I think I'd have probably given it an extra star had I been in the stage seating. Had an excellent view from the dress circle, but I imagine it feels very different from on stage.

Other than Bacharach himself, the real star involved was Anastacia McCleskey. Amazing vocals. Why isn't she on the posters?

wow I've been twice now and loved it even more the second time. I think the poster is very misleading. It makes things look like a love story imo. the title of the show was changed as well, making it even more so. It was previously called What's it all About. I think it really needs to be made clear that its not a Jukebox show and there is no story, just the songs reimagined. 8/10
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Am seeing it tonight and looking forward to see how well it works in the West End, but I thought it was fabulous in the more intimate Menier.

I agree about Anastacia McCleskey's vocals, but I thought that Renato Paris also stood out. Also apart from Burt himself Kyle Riabko's arrangements are pretty special IMHO.
