Enron

#1 Post by superhero » Thu May 27, 2010 11:52 am

I went to see the play yesterday and thought it was quite interesting. It's actually very similar to the documentary about Enron and covers alot of the same points. Hence thats my only complaint really, it was all rather more serious documentary style when I was expecting something alot more satirical and funny. Yes it was satirical but not that funny.
Full marks to the set designers though, considering it never had the budget of a full West End production. The set kept things interesting when the dialogue sometimes got a bit dull.
It's play with lots of important valid points made and everyone should go and watch it, but shame about the turnout yesterday, the stalls were only 40% full. 7.5/10

I loved the play, especially because my thesis is related to the topic. I haven't seen the documentary about Enron so I enjoyed the documentary style of the play. I think they took some liberty about a few facts, though, e.g. the deregulation of the market was more an ongoing process and did not occur immediately before the 2001 California electricity crisis.

I've been keen to see this so interesting to hear your views. Hoping they'll do some reduced price tickets if there's lots of spare seats!

Didn't see the original staging at Chichester but did see the production on its transfer to the Royal Court and it was certainly one of my 2009 highlights, so unless it has changed a lot, I'd recommend it.

My daughter and I saw this last Wednesday (thanks to Bevvy for posting the link) and we were given the best seats in the house -- front row of the Royal Circle. We both enjoyed the play -- extremely clever staging and well worth seeing. Husband saw it at the Royal Court some months back and recommended it highly and was a bit jealous we got to see it for free. What a week we had with a free concert at Royal Festival Hall, free theatre with Enron and a couple of free films. What luck.

Yeah I was offered really nice seats too when I went Row H in the stalls in the centre. I think the tickets are quite pricey, maybe £50? I know they even sell premium ones for £80!
