Spectre
Re: Spectre
Not seen this mentioned much but does anybody think that the torture
Spoiler
Show
worked because it's intention was weirdly specific in face blindness and that would be an amazingly appropriate bittersweet ending to any Bond, if he was just left seeing 'woman'. It was kind of suggested by the plot but not really followed through or well timed, maybe I just misread?

Re: Spectre
another diluted bond movie, in line with the majority of the others, to be fair.
however even the set piece action scenes, normally the decent content, were strangely fudged affairs on the whole this time. At least there was a sense of humour eminent, but parody cant pave over incompetence.
somewhere here theres a very big, bold, beautiful movie, particularly in the finality that it lends the Daniel Craig's brutish Bond trilogy(QOS doesn't count), but its all too often hidden in half baked directing and half hearted acting. In 4 words - the Steven Moffat effect

Re: Spectre
Anyone else annoyed by Q still? I know Ben Wishaw doesn't hold a candle to the quintessential Desmond Llewelyn who was the granddaddy, (and let's not even mention the total miscast of the clown that was John Cleese) but who can take Ben Wishywashy seriously in this role? A bigger grown-up Harry Potter lookalike there has never been. He still doesn't even look old enough to drive, let alone construct the Astons that he is supposed to construct and adapt. He certainly couldn't get insurance to test drive them!
That said, it took me long enough to get used to Dame Dudy Dench as M. Maybe when Q comes of age and looks old enough to be out of short pants will I be able to take him seriously. He looks as young as Craig's Bond looks old.

Re: Spectre
Initially I thought the whole MoneyPenny reveal at the end of Skyfall suggested that these Daniel Craig movies were meant to be prequels to the rest of the series but then we have Q who is significantly younger than Bond. So then I thought maybe he was meant to grow into Desmond Llewelyn's role, but then how does Bond manage to stay roughly the same age throughout all 24 episodes while Q ages literally by decades? He also has access to the Aston Martin "Goldfinger" DB5 in both this one & Skyfall and cherishes it fondly it as a treasure from his past. Then there's the Cold War which has already ended though SPECTRE, which is still part of the Casino Royale series, supposedly takes place at the beginning of James Bond's career in the future. Let's not even forget that Judi Dench featured as M in both the Brosnan movies as well as Casino Royale.
Aargh! This chronology makes no sense...unless the Moneypenny naming is merely a co-incidence and this is all just ridiculous fan-service.
Is Ralph Fiennes then meant to be the Bernard Lee of this series?

Re: Spectre
this is the biggest problem with the casino royale lazy reboot, though ingenious at the time, it means that subsequent continuity in the following films becomes increasingly difficult to justify, so they just dont bother to justify it.Jayman wrote:Initially I thought the whole MoneyPenny reveal at the end of Skyfall suggested that these Daniel Craig movies were meant to be prequels to the rest of the series but then we have Q who is significantly younger than Bond. Re: Spectre
I totally disagree with those who have a problem with Ben Whishaw. The fact that he is so much younger than Bond enables them to show how his youth and knowledge of new technology is at odds with the old school spy. Whishaw brings a lot to the part and I enjoyed how his character grew from when he was first introduced in Skyfall.
