Sisters (2015)

#1 Post by Jayman » Thu Dec 10, 2015 10:14 pm

So what did everybody think?

Personally, I wasn't impressed. I'm an enormous fan of both Amy Poehler and Tina Fey and thoroughly enjoyed all their previous outings together (especially 2008's Baby Mama) but this one was just crass, crude and vulgar beyond words. Admittedly, I did giggle a few times but found the majority of the gags to be lazy. Reminded me very much of last year's Neighbors with inspiration from Risky Business and Project X.

I should however mention that the Apollo crowd loved every minute of it and all non-embargoed reviews speak highly of it too so it's probably just me.

I imagine the pre-shoot conversation went something likes this...

"ok, the script sucks, not enough laughs, but hey !!! we are funny people, we can just improvise....it will be great !"

"yeah, lets do it !!!"

script sucks / not enough laughs / not great.

4/10

if you want to see tina fey & amy poelher (sic) in great form, watch them presenting golden globes for the last few years, courtesy of youtube.....comedy gold

This was shit. Yet another bland bland bland American unfunny comedy. This was painful to watch. At least it didn't have a Hollywood Face lending there fame to it, such as Robert DiNiro, proving that he's not a comedian.
Definitely a girly film, but even those of the female persuasion are going to find this tiresome.
I honestly never laughed once.

I watched this today at Islington Vue and the audience laughed throughout. Yes I agree there are crude jokes
but I don't think anyone was offended.

I enjoyed it 7/10

Preferred cinemas Croydon Grants, Islington and Shepherds Bush Vue, Apollo, Wimbledon, Surrey Quays and Streatham Odeon, Millbank

40 somethings take drugs? How is that funny, amusing etc?
That was weird and bizarre. It's not good and not clever, really.
I love both Tina Fey snd Amy Poeller but this was no Pineapple Express.
Yes I did laugh at some of it as it reminded me of being a child if the 80s and the daft things my friends and I used to do too, but this was just odd.

A few amusing moments does not a movie make. I'm with stuartboy on this. Made worse by the 30 minute delay at the Glasgow screening. Wish I'd joined McG elsewhere...

Lighted fun.

But at VUE Picadilly the security people were getting in the way of watching the film, walking up and down the aisles, you always felt their presence. Why are they needed if, as we were told before the film was shown, that the cinema is fitted with infrared security equipment?

Looks like I made a good choice by asking to see The Good Dinosaur as the Sisters film was delayed!
I just couldn't face hanging about for another 45 mins to see Sisters and just asked the manager . . .only a family of 4 and me in screening room!
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

Films already booked for:

Hope to get tickets for: Every film if they come to my preferred cinemas

Damn! Wish I'd thought of that. I decided to go shopping for 45 minutes instead of sitting waiting. A cartoon would have been infinitely preferable to this tripe.

There was a delay in Vue Croydon too: we had to queue until 6:35-6:40. Since there were trailers, I think that the film started at around 7pm.

As for the film, it was mediocre. Very disappointing considering that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey were in it. 5/10
