Good film that maintained the theme of the original star wars however the plot was a bit flakey in parts and recycled a previous plot. 6.5/10

Have to say thoroughly enjoyed the film. I went to see it in 2D, does the 3D add much?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Saw this for free yesterday using my Odeon points and really enjoyed it. Memories of other films came flooding back and I remembered all the characters and previous storylines. My 7 year old grandson was a bit thrown by how how old the main characters were, according to his mum when they went to see it.
Great escapism and can't wait for the next films!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Did enjoy the film, but felt it relied too heavily on plot elements from A New Hope. Really liked the new characters especially Rey, and it was great to see the original trio back on the big screen even though Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill had very little screen time, hope they'll be used more in the next one! The score was also slightly underwhelming considering the previous themes Williams has composed for the franchise, although Rey's Theme was very nice. Kylo Ren is another interesting character and am looking forward to seeing how his character arc develops in the next film. All in all, a good blockbuster film, but it was never going to live up to all of the hype.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
Saw this twice now! Last week in 3D, and today in 2D! Used a voucher last week at Central Picturehouse, and invited to a BAFTA screening today at Soho Hotel.
I so enjoyed this.
It was even better the second time as you can concentrate on other things that you may have missed on first viewing. It was great to see the old cast back in their iconic roles, but also all the new cast. Han Solo is back, wiser, sarcastic and hilarious. Harrison Ford looked like he was really relishing his role again. There is still great chemistry with Chewie, and he interacts really well with the new cast. The two young stars playing Rey and Finn are brilliant. BB8, so loveable. C3PO and R2D2 all make an appearance.
Although the action is epic and amazing, I really enjoyed the wisecracking and quipping between the characters. There is a lot of humour that was missing from the prequels. Even though the plot seems familiar, it is still captivating. Kylo Ren, the baddie, is not so menacing as Darth Vader though, All exciting stuff, which I cannot wait to be answered in the next episodes! It did leave me wanting more! Hence I would not mind seeing it again!

Spoiler
Show
but he is young and yet to develop, and also there are parts that are a bit questionable, Rey using the Force before being trained, and Finn using a light saber.

Excellent film. This is how you start a new Star Wars trilogy (Phantom Menace take note). Daisy Ridley & John Boyega were excellent.
P.S. it's compulsory to want a BB-8 now isn't it?

What a film! Saw on Sunday as an end of holiday treat and boy it was. The British cast member were outstanding and the veteran cast members hadn't lost it, fell in love with Carrie and Harrison all over again. 10/10 from me!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
I saw this last week at the Electric cinema in Birmingham but only just getting around to reviewing it. I am a fan of Star Wars and I really liked the film. I know a lot of users here didn't like the 3D but I thought it was really good and I'm picky when it comes to 3D. The only things that didn't work with the 3D were when there were dark scenes as it wasn't as effective but other than that the 3D was very good so I'm surprised at the online reaction to that. I thought the acting was better than the previous films and I also liked the new characters especially BB8 and Rey. The only thing I didn't like was that I felt like Kylo Ren wasn't as strong as I thought he'd be and that they made Rey able to fight with a lightsaber when she'd had no Jedi training at all. I liked the story although some have compared it to A New Hope but I don't think that's a bad thing. Overall, I thought it was a great film so i'll give it 4/5!
