I watched all the original and latest Star Wars films (which now make sense) before seeing Force Awakened, and loved it. Even as a stand alone film it would have made the cut for me. 10/10

caught ten minutes in 3d.

cant wait now. I can see why everyone wants a BB8 now.

edit - seen it, straight 5 star movie. Although I find it odd that 30 years on the Rebels are still the rebels, surely they've sorted out the empire given 3 decades to do it. And the SUpreme Baddie was a bit weird, more like a huge upper class Gollum.

Its nitpicking to criticise such a decent effort, but one thing is the Force comes too easily to the lead characters, whereas it needs earning and learning in the first trilogy. The excuse is I guess that "this" Force is the easy come easy go Disney version of it.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

this actually felt more comfortable viewing when seen NOT on IMAX, but also in 2d, as I think someone mentioned earlier.

I've probably already given it 5 stars.
