Ensemble intercontemporain - Denis Kozhukhin attracted accolades as winner of the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, one of the toughest of all tests for young concert pianists.

The Russian artist, born into a family of musicians in Nizhny Novgorod in 1986, continues to win admirers with playing that combines technical command and athleticism with open-hearted communication.

Shakespeare's Sister Rehearsed Reading

Shakespeare's Sister Rehearsed Reading

Judith Shakespeare has one ambition: to be a playwright. When her debt-ridden father forces her into an engagement, she runs away with the help of dashing actor Ned Alleyn, hoping to join her brother in London. But when Judith arrives in the plague-stricken capital, she finds her brother gone, Ned engaged to another, and her play refused.
Judith and the players confront poverty in an economic depression; a society where women’s freedoms are curtailed; and a government tackling religious extremism in a climate of fear. Judith must choose between succumbing to social pressures, and following her dream, no matter what the cost.

Inspector Pratt arrives at Bagshot House with grim news for Colonel Craddock, but that’s just the beginning. Who is the strange Polish Count? Is Henrietta really an army Captain? How does the eccentric thespian Longfellow fit into the equation? These are just some of the characters who make Pratt’s return a chaotic nightmare as the bodies pile higher and higher.

ITV First Look: Houdini & Doyle
TV presents the premiere of Houdini and Doyle, on Monday the 29th of February, exclusively at Everyman, followed by a satellite Q&A with the cast.

Stephen Mangan stars as Sherlock Holmes' author Arthur Conan Doyle in this new ten-part drama, alongside Michael Weston, who will play escape artist Harry Houdini. Houdini and Doyle will explore the friendship between Doyle - an ardent believer in the paranormal - and Houdini, who, as a professional magician, is sceptical about anything that appears to be supernatural.

The series is set within the rich history of the early 20th century, when the Mteropolitan Police were overwhelmed by bizarre and often inexplicable cases. In uncertain times, New Scotland Yard turned to Doyle and Houdini for help.

This event will be followed by a satellite Q&A with actors Stephen Mangan and Adam Nagatis and producer Adrian Sturges.

Coming to ITV Encore this March.

Brahms: A German Requiem, London Choral Sinfonia – Kings Place, London.

For showfilmfirst members that enjoy classical music we are delighted to have just a few tickets for Brahms: A German Requiem, London Choral Sinfonia at 7.30pm on 3rd March at Kings Place, London.

Celebrating one of classical music’s towering figures, this programme first explores Brahms as the man besotted with Clara Schumann in his charming and playful setting of Daumer’s folk songs and love poems, Liebeslieder Waltzes. This contrasts his ground-breaking and mighty Ein Deutsches Requiem, written following the death of his mother, and performed tonight with the composer’s own arrangement for piano four hands and choir.
