Apparently he was sold on the script by the time he finished reading it. I either missed something or it didn't translate to the screen!
Yes, the storyline was good, acting good, but I felt it had the potential to be better and there was something missing. Maybe they edited it.

Sorry, but I'm at odds with you and most people that have posted on here. I'm afraid that I found very little of merit in this at all.

"GREEN ROOM is a brilliantly crafted and wickedly fun horror-thriller starring Patrick Stewart as a diabolical club owner who squares off against an unsuspecting but resilient young punk band. Down on their luck punk rockers The Ain't Rights are finishing up a long and unsuccessful tour, and are about to call it quits when they get an unexpected booking at an isolated, run-down club deep in the backwoods of Oregon. What seems merely to be a third-rate gig escalates into something much more sinister when they witness an act of violence backstage that they weren't meant to see...."

So the above is "part 1" posted on Rotten Tomatoes. "part 2" so to speak is too revealing a spoiler to post now
So even though it scored 89% on Rotten (which is just 1 below that of Captain America Civil War) I attend films with an open mind.

I really do not understand some of the negative points that have been posted eg
'What on earth was SirPatStew doing in this? A bit of a dodgy accent before going back to Professor X? ;) Apparently he was sold on the script by the time he finished reading it. Accent Professor X?
Let's not forget one of my favourite "EXCALIBUR" and how all who have followed Patrick Stewart by joining The Royal Shakespeare Company would do well to catch ALL his performances as Avery Bullock in American Dad

I just don't get any of the non favourable comments , they appear to be a single point taken out of context to describe the whole film.

I missed Jeremy Saulnier 2014 film Blue Ruin which apart from the trailer I know little of the film, it did have very good review though hence why IO had planned to see it.

    In short
Green Room is a violent film (and is up there with Drive)
When the violence is ACTUALLY depicted it far exceeds the number of violent scenes in Drive.

So band witnesses an act of violence and have to escape....so think
Patrick Stewart and hench men are the Xenomorphs
The gig was played at Planet LV-246
Lt. Ellen Ripley has to lead the combat marines to safety (the band) offa LV-246.

And Patrick Stewart almost does a double take of Gorman:
"Look, we can't have any firing in there. I, uh, I want you to collect "magazines" from everybody." He want the only gun they have
Frost "What do you expect us to use man, harsh language?"
spoiler and yes they did use HARSH LANGUAGE (if not for the 18 certificate complaint by email!)

As you can see I did like the film.
Those of you who missed it FREE oops.......

Perfectly acceptable for people not to like this film, philipand96 -- different strokes and all that. It's what FMUK is all about. I may be in the minority but side with cliveas on this one -- little of merit in my opinion. You are most welcome to your different opinion but please be tolerant of others.

Tense and well executed, but quite predictable after the directors last effort. 7/10

This film was TENSE! Will they or won't they? Good casting. Patrick Stewart, the quietly eerie club owner (as one of the character says, he is more scary in the dark) and Imogen Poots as the tough young girl, brilliant. 8/10

Not a film for a Sunday morning, but it really held my attention! And the location at Odeon Camden was absolutely perfect, just seven minutes walk from home!

Have not been to this cinema for a while but what a lovely cinema it has turned out to be, they have really done it up, it was looking really tired and worn out before, now it is bright and spacious. The tiered seating in Screen 5 was really comfy as well. It's a really dark screening room, you can hardly see to find your seats when you walk in as the dimmed lighting is very dim!

I had not realised that they had started early, until elski mentioned it when the screening finished, as I was checking my messages on my phone and when the screen came on and the film started, just thought it was time. So when people came in at 10.25/10.30, they were not late, but their settling down in their seats were a little bit distracting as they had to use their phones to light the way! The staff are very nice and helpful, but they need to know that the film starts at 10.30am not 10.20am. May be it is their first SFF screening, so they did not know the drill. Just hope SFF will have more screenings here in future, so we shall see.

I saw it at Showcase and was very surprised they started the film at 10.30 am.

I saw this at the Cinema de Lux in Bristol. I have to agree with cliveas and ejwrank. Though the acting was reasonable the simplistic plot and lack of character development made this a very boring watch for me.

Thought film was a bit predictable, not a great fan of these films. However, it woke up a dull Sunday morning.

I really liked this film, it had great unexpected gorey moments that made me want to hide my face, it's not your typical thriller/horror storyline and I loved the fact that P. Stewart stepped out of his usual roles to do something different.
