Independence Day: Resurgence

#1 Post by tonethestone » Sat Jun 18, 2016 7:35 pm

Just back home from a screening of Independence Day Resurgence, I disliked the first film like most, this new one is even worse on every level, the final 15 minutes is as bad as I've seen in film in years. Not sure if the acting or CGI was worse. Won't surprise anyone this is a bad film with the whole cast there for p*y checks.

Had a chat with a dozen or so who said exact same, the only reason we stayed was because of the free vouchers on the way out we were told about before we went in, seemed to be the only way they would get people to stay.

Best part of the 'experience', the laughs at the end from pretty much the entire crowd when it's meant to be deadly serious. Awful film 0/5.
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

Beate if you're a big fan you might be better at this test than I was. I've never seen the first film and tried to watch it last night but fell asleep.

Like most? I thought the first one was quite well received by critics and audiences alike. Nobody professes it to be anything more than what it is. ie. a big, dumb, Summer popcorn movie that's also highly entertaining.

first was kinda big dumb fun, but what gave it cahootas were scenes going all out American gung ho against aliens, particularly aerial combat.

Dumbassest plot resolution ever, those who lied " heey it was sooo inspired maaan" need a good talking to. As was the script, I think that film marked a turning point towards dummification in big budget movies that reached a zenith in movies like the Transformers films.

Will be seeing it on Thursday if plan goes forward well.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
