I think reimagining is a possible description. I really couldn't care less. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were bits that fell flat but overall it's very funny.
Also I have no problems ogling a man like Chris Hemsworth who looked to be having fun in the role.
This is hardly the same as scantily clad women who have no role in a film other than to titillate.

The Ghostbusters should have battled a giant straw man at the end.

I think this was ok, a familiar Ring to its sinister, insidious fun and the great 3d SFX making up for the somewhat 2d plotwriting that doesn't fly by and generally characters that aren't a scream. If I'd pa*d hard money for the IMAX version I might be in Misery, but I saw it free and thus entirely Grudge free.

To be fair to GB movies, none of the Others even back in the days of V/H/S have never been great films, I've always wondered why they half-mess up a chance to make something really awesome with such a great idea. But no its always been a halfspirited manifestation in the flesh, and these days its easily superceded by a dozen ghostbusting style movies and tv shows, though none will ever be Conjuring up a better theme tune than it.

As I said elskiwhere, I genuinely think it would have been better to have called it a non ghostbusters title altogether (and also, had Emma Stone Thingy not turned it down yumyum lol). Would have avoided all the hell raised about its title anyway.

3 stars. btw, theres 16 references to spooky movies in this review. Babadook!

I didn't really like this film. The best thing about it is Chris Hemsworth especially for the end of credit dance scene where you can tell he's just having a laugh and taking the p*ss. Apart from that Melissa McCarthy does the same old acting routine she does in most, if not all of her films which is tiresome and predictable. I'd like to see her do something different in the future. I also thought the black character's dialogue comes across as dumb and is badly stereotyped like something out of the 1980's. Not surprising there was a lot of criticism in the press/social media about this. I was really looking forward to the new GB but got very frustrated watching it. 3/10

Found this film quite frustrating. With Feig at the helm, i expected it to be a lot funnier. A lot of the jokes were just lame and silly. The whole ghostbusting aspect was overly neon bright and cgi heavy. It makes me think back to how the original Ghostbusters was also fairly silly but had much more credibility. I'd give it a middling 5/10. Never to be watched again.

Thought this ok-having seen the original, it could never really live up to it. I would give it a 6/10.

I love the original, but didn't much care for the sequel and after the hysteria surrounding the announcement / release of this reboot it was hard to know where my expectations were. They were probably quite low, but unfortunately I don't think the film even reached that level.

There wasn't much chemistry between the Ghostbusters and unlike the original the science / set up didn't feel rooted in the real world at all, the huge set of ghost fighting weapons felt straight out the cartoon series. Also, it felt far too wacky / silly with everyone riffing to get the best lines, Holtzman and Kevin were particularly annoying.

Everyone, including the director, has done better work, reboots can sometimes surprise even the biggest fans, but this felt like a missed opportunity 4/10

I loved the Ghostbusters as a kid. Seen the movies both as a kid and as an adult.

It's worth noting when I heard about an all female reboot, I thought it was a poor late April fools joke. I wasn't impressed!

I enjoyed this as a stand alone movie, laughed several times and liked all the nods to precious films.

I feel as a 20 something female this movie was aimed at me so maybe why I liked it so much.

This film is seriously bad which is a real shame. Chris Hemsworth should never have been cast in his role. The "comedic moments" are a massive fail. There is very little chemistry between the characters.

Overall 2/10

I think they tried too hard to replicate the originals with identikit female characters.. the funny one, the geeky one etc..
Apart from that... i enjoyed it and would watch again with mates and POPCORN.. hoping they will not remake again with an all kid cast!
