Re: Nights out
Well I squeezed in the Lantern Festival before it finished, just!
Here are my photos to share with you:

Absolutely stunning and magical. Well worth a visit to West London, even though it is a quite a walk from the tube station, one mile!
Good job the day I went it was dry, although cold!

Re: Nights out
Last night I saw Sunny Afternoon again for the fifth time. Great music, and a brilliant atmosphere at the theatre. The show was magic and the musicians, actors, and staging is fantastic. It's such a fun show and most of the audience get up and dance at the end. It's my favourite musical at the moment. The first time I saw it was in November 2014 and it was with the old cast who were brilliant, although the new cast is just as good. Tonight I finally got to see Danny Horne playing Ray Davies, as the other times an understudy played the part. Dave Davies was actually in the audience tonight.

Re: Nights out - Hendrick’s Gin Ministry of Marginally Super
Did anyone else go on the Hendrick’s Gin Ministry of Marginally Superior Transport tour?
I went tonight and unfortunately, the location printed on the ticket was wrong! I chose the 6.30pm pick up at Victoria, and arrived in good time as requested. So was there from 6pm at the stated location opposite the Department of Business, Innovations and Skills, as were two other groups. One group got fed up and left at 6.40pm, but my group and another group persevere, as apparently, you can track their route on their website and it showed that they were on their way. So when the bus finally came at 6.50pm, to our surprise we were told they do not stop there! Of course, we complained and show them our ticket, and although there were no room on the bus, they kindly let us on and so 6 people squeezed into seats meant for 3. Luckily, the other group left, so only 6 of us left, otherwise it would have been 9 people for those 3 seats!
The front of the bus had been converted in to a bar, where the cocktails were prepared, and the middle section had tables with two seats on either side, and the back seats of the old route master, that normally sits four on each row had a small table slotted in the middle of the two rows of seats facing each other, so really only room for one person either side of the table in the two rows of seats, to sit comfortably, but they squeezed the same amount of people, four in each row, as if there were no table there.
The trip was actually very entertaining the entertainers worked hard to entertain us and gave us plenty to drink, a gin cocktail, and then a tea cocktail, which they kept topping us up. We were then dropped off at the next stop near Holborn, and the next group boarded. The trip took about 40 minutes.
So if you have tickets for the Victoria pick up, you need to check exactly where in Victoria Street, not opposite the Department of Business, Innovations and Skills.

Re: Nights out - Hendrick’s Gin Ministry of Marginally Super
We went on the 1st day - 21 July - picked up at 1st stop at Euston - entertainers were very good - we were on top deck - I hate gin, but husband loves - he thoroughly enjoyed along with the 2 ladies by the side of us! The tea cocktail was over flowing, I was parched, did not even think to ask for water !prettyxcool wrote:Did anyone else go on the Hendrick’s Gin Ministry of Marginally Superior Transport tour?

Re: Nights out
Went to the Jameson First Shot tonight showing three shorts starring Maggie Gyllenhaal back to back - the winning film, Home, and the other runner up films, The New Empress and Beauty Mark. It really shows how great an actress Maggie is, in three very different films, all very interesting. Then a Q&A afterwards with Kat Woods, who wrote the script and directed the winning short, Home. Also in attendance is Dana Brunetti who judges the shorts. Great insight of Kat's progress from writing the script to entering and then winning and then going to LA to direct her short. Lots of really good tips of what the judges look for when entering.
With help from Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti, every year three writers/directors are selected to have their scripts made into short films by the award-winning Trigger Street Productions. It is a scheme that Jameson First Shot has been doing for the last five years to help budding writers/directors.
As is normal at Central Picturehouse, as they have so many other events happening, it gets really crowded, and the space for the pre-drinks were far too small for all the attendees. Luckily, we did not have to queue and got our drinks pretty quickly and then sent to Screen 4 pretty quickly too. The long queue was for the Tickled premiere and I am sure I saw Danny Leigh going into that.
After our screening, we were all invited back to the gallery of the Member's Bar for more drinks and loads of food, if you are patient, which was well worth it. Mini-burgers, both beef and veggie, large sausage rolls, scotch eggs, tortillas, and potato wedges. We also went up on to the terrace to have look around. A very good evening all in all, a nice prize to win for me.
Lovely to see Esther with hubby, funthing, elski and dovetail.on

Re: Nights out
the other day I was cycling through Twickenham and took a short cut to the river Thames, but it seems I walked straight into a festival at Marble Hill House with Kylie playing, right past sleeping security on the gate. Walked straight out and back to the Thames. Great security there!
(tickets were apparently £130 each, not sure who pays £130 for a day ticket with Kylie on the bill at a venue you can walk into)
