Rather old fashioned, but in a good way. Interesting story - totally believable. I half expected to see the ubiquitous "Based on a true story".
Solid performance from Arm Pitt. Quite a few cameos noticed but couldn't place the actors.

Re: Allied
I enjoyed this film particularly as the main revelation is kept right up until the end. Thought Brad Pitt was better in this than he has been in some other films and is definitely ageing well! I did spot a few errors but otherwise interesting film. Worth a watch.

Re: Allied
Not bad, a bit predictable and there were a few distracting, dodgy CGI shots, which is odd for a Robert Zemeckis film.
And it was good to see Brad Pitt's foreign language skills have improved so much. Overall 6/10

Re: Allied
I thought they made it pretty obvious with a look and there were definitely clues when there was a cameo by a recognised actor.McG wrote:I enjoyed this film particularly as the main revelation is kept right up until the end.

Re: Allied
A packed Odeon, Metrocentre last night with only the odd seat left. I enjoyed the film, though found it very slow to begin with. The tension built up gradually and we were all wondering whether or not........(not giving the plot away here). Everything was revealed at the end, and I thought it was a satisfying conclusion to the film. I thought the costumes and attention to detail were excellent. However, I was underwhelmed by Brad's performance. Hardly a facial muscle moved or twitched. I started to wonder whether he had had Botox.
7/10 from me.

Re: Allied
Watched it yesterday in Bristol. It was ok, the plot was really predictable. I was waiting for a twist, but nothing happened, such a shame they didn't explore some of the possibilities the story could offer. It almost looks like the movie has a part one with a really interesting aproach, lots of action, great historical action scenes; and then cut to part two, a bit boring and predictable. Still, I enjoyed it, thought it was easy to watch after a busy day.

Re: Allied
I was really disappointed, I wanted action from the beginning to the end instead it turned into a romantic film, which I hate
Re: Allied
Watched this last week, cinema was very busy with only the odd seat available (that's what I like).
I really enjoyed the film and it captured me from the beginning. Not too much action which was good and a nice love story behind it all.
Would recommend to others. 7/10

Re: Allied
Saw this in Wimbledon Odeon. I had already seen some trailers and really wanted to see this film and it did not disappoint. Brad Pitt was excellent as Max/Maurice, the Canadian sent to Casablanca on an espionage mission. Marion Cotillard was likewise excellent as his French companion (later on to be his wife). It was a tense thriller/love-story where the two protagonists were playing someone else, but despite that they still managed to fall in love.
My only quibble was that some of the plot was impossible/improbable. Having lived in Casablanca for five years, it is patently obvious that you cannot just “pop out” to the desert to unwind. It is about a two-day drive (maybe more) to the Sahara. Why on earth did they put that in the film?? Casablanca has a fantastic wild coastline – so why on earth did they not go there to unwind whilst watching all the waves smashing into the shoreline? That would have been so much more believable. Also the roof-top view belonged to a house in the medina, however the entrance to Marianne’s looked as if it was in downtown Casablanca – in the French district. Of course, if you don’t know Casablanca, then you would probably have believed it. BTW I know it wasn’t filmed in Casablanca, but if you wanted to convince people it was, then these two slip-ups should have been corrected.
Apart from those geographical criticisms, I enjoyed it. 7/10 from me.
