I could never tell in these Star Wars battle who is who. So to introduce new characters that are all badass and rebels against the Rebellion and the Empire, and none of them properly developed, I did not really care one way or another what happens to them, but the CGI battle scenes are exciting. The story is also very dark, but nevertheless a very entertaining sci-fi adventure, of a young child, after losing her parents, grew up to be Felicity Jones (she's very good though), making her way in the galaxy, and the person who rescues her, Forest Whitaker (is also very good too). The new droid K-2SO, is fun.

This review nailed it for me! Hmmm, exactly, what I was thinking :shifty:
Full of spoilers though, read at your own risk ;)

I loved it and thought it was one of the best Star Wars film ever!!! Brilliantly produced and well acted, full of excitement and some witty dialogue. A wonderful pop-corn movie, very thrilling and some how it reminded me of the fantastic Blakes'7 Tv series....

Finally went to see this on Tuesday. Really enjoyed getting a new set of characters to follow, even with limited character development, they all had their own exciting attributes which added to the misfit feel of the group. Jyn, Chirrut Imwe and K2SO being my favourites.

..it's just shame we wont be seeing any more of them
It was nice to get some explaination behind the Death Star and its massive flaw, we all know how that turned out...

Definately a worthy addition to the Star Wars galaxy and a win for Gareth Edwards after Godzilla was a bit of a dissapointment. 8/10

Best Star Wars film since Empire.

Liked the Guns of Navarone/Dirty Dozen vibe, especially as the stand-alone nature meant that, without a specific sequel to be factored in, (other than Star Wars itself), the production had greater freedom in deciding whether even quite central characters survive or not.

Enjoyable movie. Liked all of the new characters, and a bold decision to

Thought the CGI for Torkin and Leia was impressive, and didn't find it very distracting. Amazing what CGI can do these days.

Just back from seeing this.
10/10 to Odeon for being the warmest place in Edinburgh today. They should advertise it to pensioners as best place to keep warm as with my Times+ 241 deal at £2.80 each for 2:5 hours it was a brilliant deal and much cheaper than having my heating on at home!!
Enjoyed the film enough. It was OH choice and he loved it!
I could follow what was going on so kept me entertained enough. Much better than the last one eith that orange rollerball robot!

game of two halves really.

First half was a kinda star wars from an alternative universe, or should I say the Star wars expanded universe. not quite the same obvious division of good vs evil. A bit slow at times and not enough time invested in building characters. Even Forest looked clumsy. And the posh chick tried well but was let down each time she opened her mouth and spoke posh. Posh chicks don't make rebels, they are empire through and through (or Lib Dem at best)

Second half was awesome as the action and cameos reigned down on us. Just like beggars canyon back home.

Word about the CGI - landscapes were awesome but the characters were far from it.Leia looked positively crosseyed in what should have been a poignant scene or maybe it was a sly reference to Carrie being a drug addled freak in real life. Tarkin was FX-ed to resemble a viper at times. The rebel pilots shone though. And

Porkins!

IMAX was best for this, it really gave the vast planetary scenery full body.

4 stars overall. Fans of the X wing tie fighter games and books (I wasted half my childhood on the games easily some of the best games ever made) will be very chuffed indeed, this film is made for them.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I'm a big Star Wars fan but have been disappointed with most of the later film releases. This one however is a good one and is more in tune with the Originals.
